1. A number is 1 more than twice another. Their squares differ by 176.


What are their numbers?

2. The length of one rectangle is two times the width. If the length is
decreased by 5 feet and the width is increased by 5 feet, the area
is increased by 75 square feet. Find the dimensions of the original
rectangle.

3. The side of a square equals the width of a rectangle. The length of


the rectangle is 6 feet longer than its width. The sum of their areas

4. Tickets to the school play sold at $4 each for adults and $1.50 each
