LAB #5
To sketch the VI Characteristics of SCR and DIAC using MATLAB
Objectives
In this lab we to construct the SCR based circuit with anode-gate and anode-cathode switching connections
using MCM3 module and MATLAB
To measure the voltages and currents across SCR with anode-gate and anode-cathode switching connections
using DMM and MATLAB
To construct a DIAC based circuit using MCM3 module and MATLAB
To measure the voltages and currents across DIAC using DMM and MATLAB
Methodology
In this lab we learnt about When anode is positive w.r.t. the cathode, a curve between the V and me is called
the forward signals. Transmission characteristics of SCR to IG = 0. When the supply voltage rises from zero,
the point reached (point A) when the SCR starts to run. Under this scenario, the voltage across the SCR drops
suddenly and most of the power the supply from the entire load is resistant to RL .If the current gate is made
to flow, the SCR can shut off at a very low supply voltage. cathode, a curve between the V and me is known
as reverse features. The voltage potential meets the SCR when operating with a. When the reverse voltage
gradually increases, firstly the current anode remains small (i.e. leakage current) and at some reverse power,
avalanche deterioration occurs, and the SCR begins to run heavily on the reverse side as indicated in the DE
curve. The applied voltage is small at any polarity, a very small current flow known as leakage current due to
the movement of electrons and holes in the decreasing region. Although a small current flow is not enough to
produce an avalanche degradation, hence the device remains in a state of disrepair. When the voltage applied
to any polarity exceeds the degradation voltage, the current DIAC rises and the device operates according to
its VI characteristics .

CONCLUSION
In this lab we concluded that how to construct the SCR based circuit with anode-gate and anode-cathode
switching connections and to measure the voltages and currents across SCR with anode-gate and anode-
cathode switching connections.
