LAB #1
To display a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) Signal using Oscilloscope
Objectives
In this lab we construct a pulse width modulation (PWM) based circuit using MCM11 module and MATLAB.
To display the PWM signal using oscilloscope and MATLAB
Methodology
In this lab we worked on the implementation of Pulse Width Modulation on hardware MCM11 as well as
MATLAB. A PWM was technique used to encode the amplitude of a signal into the pulse width of another
signal. The duty cycle of the PWM signal was also discussed as it is stated to be the proportion of the on time
and is of utmost importance. The prelab consisted of mainly software implementation of the PWM signal. The
task was to use MATLAB’s Simulink to generate a PWM signal and then display it using the scope in the
MATLAB Simulink Library. The same was also implemented on hardware using MCM11 Module. The
module consisted of Op-Amps, Integrators, Transformers, and Potentiometers etc. The module also consisted
of different points that were to be connected using connectors to get desired circuits and results. The manual
was followed, and the connectors were placed as instructed. The output was observed and verified at each
point using an oscilloscope
Pre lab task
Use MATLAB Simulink to generate pulse width modulation (PWM) using triangular and DC signal.

CONCLUSION
After this lab I was familiarize with the MCM11 module and PWM signal generation and how MCM11
Module and the importance of PWM signals in power consumption in circuits and its advantages as low power
consumption of PWN signals. The lab also helped in understanding the better use of the MATLAB Simulink
and its functions
