Reaction Paper in PAGPAHITUON 2021: The

University Virtual Orientation

In the PAGPAHITUON 2021 (A virtual University Student Orientation), many have happened. A
lot of guest speakers and entertainment was included for the students especially the freshmen. This was
implemented to know more of the university such as the mission, vision, and goals, and etc. But overall,
this is to welcome the students through virtual orientation.

First, the form was sent in the group chat to be filled up for the attendance. And finally, the long
wait is over as the countdown reaches to zero. The PAGPAHITUON 2021 has now started and a lot of
students are typing comments on the live video with their greetings and finally their names, course, year
& section, and what institution they’re in. As the students flood the comment section, the webinar was
also went on and we then could hear the Prayer with a contemporary dance choreography that matches
the doxology. They’re so fascinating to watch as they move swiftly and smoothly with every step. And
after that, the Philippine National Anthem was then played. The consequences of the events are so
beautifully planned that’s why I know in the first place that this webinar will be going to be a success. To
add up, the video editing is great as well as the voice of the introductory speaker, Mr. Gregorio. He
dropped this questions to us, “are you in the right school” and “can you survive studying.” But
everything fell into place as he continued the webinar by introducing the first speaker, as well as the
SUC President, Hon. Emily M. Arangote. Also, Dr. Arlene, the Vice President for Academic Affairs,
welcomed the presence of everyone watching the webinar. The phrase that was help me remember her
was that “online class, it is overwhelming but the great thing is you are growing and learning”. She also
presented ASU’s goals and objectives and made sure that we are in the right university. Indeed, I know
that the more than 3000 students of the University have nothing to regret with their chosen school for
their courses. And next up is Dr. Emily M. Arangote, at this moment, I was moved as she compromise
“let’s row the boat together to become the leading university in Asia pacific region”. Indeed, the Aklan
State University aims to be the very best and the top. And of course, as the mother of ASU, she advice us
to study well and to be ready to make sacrifices. She added that our experiences in ASU will be a
preparation for our successful life. These preparations vary from the as we make our activities, as we
present in class through online, and all the mental challenges. It is indeed true that ASU students
graduates to become successful as what she said and I believe it firmly. She also mentioned the 3Cs
which are commitment, character, and courage. Commitment is the willingness to study hard and
sacrifice for education. Character is the attitude, the way we deal with teachers, classmates and things
that are difficult. And lastly, courage is the ability to face reality such as during this trying times where
the pandemic is rampant and flexible learning was implemented. I love it as she put up a bible verse,
Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to
harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future”. Through this, my feeling has lighten up because of the
bible quote. After that, many events have happened in the webinar as well as the “Sampung Saknong sa
Minsang Paglipad” by Alfred Mancho Ginoy, a BSED 3a, from New Washington Campus.

Indeed, it was quite a great for a webinar. I really appreciate the technical team for having the
successful webinar and for the amazing video presentation. I learned a lot through the guest speakers
and will promise to put it up and bring it upon my heart as I take my journey to becoming a nurse.
