The graph show speed 𝑣 in m/s and time 𝑡 in seconds.

1. Find:

10. A train, starting from rest, accelerates at a constant rate and attains a speed of 30 m/s after 30 seconds.

The train then travels at this speed for 5 minutes. The train then slows down at a constant rate and comes to

rest in 1 minute.

(b) Find the total distance, in metres, travelled by the train.

A van travelled along the same road in the same direction as the car. The van passed the point 𝑃 at

time 𝑡 = 2. From the point 𝑃 the van travelled at a constant speed of 10 m/s for 4 seconds and

then travelled with constant acceleration to reach a speed of 20 m/s in 14 seconds.

(c) On the grid below, draw a speed-time graph for the van’s journey from 𝑃.
