CHAPTER 10: Education Act of 1982


I. Chapter I, Sec 2

What is Education act of 1982?

 It is an act providing for the establishment and maintenance on an integrated


system of education
 It provides the latest and more specific provisions on rights, duties, and parents
relation to education.
 This law enhances further the promotion of discipline in the educational
communities
 The right to form, establish, join, and participate in organizations and societies
recognized by the school to foster their intellectual, cultural, spiritual, and
physical growth and development, for purposes not to contrary to law.
 This act mandates that the state shall provide for a free public elementary and
secondary education without limiting the natural rights of parents to rear their
children.
 It was approved by our late President Ferdinand E. Marcos on September 10,
1982 and was promulgated on September 11, 1982.

General Provisions

Chapter I: Preliminary Matters

Section 1. Title – the act shall be known as “Education Act of 1982”.


Section 2. Title – Coverage - This act shall apply to and govern both formal and

non-formal system in public and private schools in all levels of the entire

educational system. Therefore, it is very clear that both formal and non-
formal system of education, both private and public in the entire system of
education are covered by this said law.
