Overview of Noun
A noun is a word used as the name of a person, place or thing. The word
‘thing’ means anything which we can think of – countable, uncountable,
visible, invisible, touchable, untouchable, events, feelings, etc.
Everything is noun in this universe.

Overview of Pronoun
• A pronoun is a word that is used in place of nouns. Pronoun means
‘for a noun’.
• Pronoun Words are – I, you, he, she, it, we, they, mine, yours, his,
hers, ours, theirs, himself, ourselves, themselves, itself, this, that,
these, those, who, whose, which, that, whose, whom, many,
somebody, someone, nobody, everybody, each, everyone, either and
neither

Overview of Verb
• A verb is a word that tells us what a person, animal or thing is doing.
Verbs show action, so they are also called action words. Some verbs
does not show action, shows idea of existence and indicates a state of
being like appear, seem, is(be) etc. Every sentence must have a verb.
Sentence is incomplete, if there is no verb
• Example of Verb:
• write, speak, read, fight, learn, come, go, seem, feel, etc.

There are mainly two types of Verbs

• 1)Main Verbs (We have noted Main Verbs of in the above examples. ); and
2) Helping /Auxiliary Verbs (Is, Am, Are, Was, Were, Has, Have, Had).
We shall learn in detail about both types of Verbs in upcoming days.
• Forms of Verb
• Verb has three forms - (1) Base form - Ist Form (2) Past Simple - 2nd Form (3) Past
participle - 3rd Form. Different types of verbs are used in different types of
sentences as per tense/grammar rules which we shall learn in upcoming days.
For example, Speak – Spoke – Spoken. “Speak" is base form – 1st Form, “Spoke" is
past simple form – 2nd form, and “Spoken" is past participle form – 3rd form.
These three forms may also be named as 1st form, 2nd form and 3rd form of
verb.
