What Makes a person beautiful

What makes a person beautiful? Beauty is not solely on looks but on what good things they bring to
surrounding people and society. Beauty can be defined in many aspects, by look, by personality,
attitude and many more.

Why often people think they are not beautiful? In my view, the pressure of social media that effects
our self-esteem especially, among young women. Look is the main aspects the society feel what
beauty is. The focus on look supress character of that person. It is more important to focus on a person
character and attitude rather than look or a pretty face.

To illustrate, most movies only have beautiful actress that has beautiful and well maintained body.
Imagine a person is way more attractive not just by looks but their act of kindness, love, respect,
honestly and loyalty. To show you what I mean, one can maintain a healthy and positive attitude
towards themselves.

This reminded me of a movie, the movie title is ‘Chasing Beauty’ acted by Jo Baker who an
English born celebrity, make up artist and beauty editor for an amazing magazine called Treats!
Chasing Beauty is a movie that shows what and how an artist struggles behind the scene of
photoshoots and fashion shows. It’s about how a model and actress sacrifice their body, mental health
and character to rise to the top of business and to look flawless just to impress the audience. Is this
beauty, I think its more to hurting ourself just to entertain others.

Beyond, there is a boy might remember. A 2 years old starving kid who once abandoned by his
family just because he looks malnourished and had a rare medical condition known as ‘witch child’.
He was that rescued by Danish aid worker who known as Anja Ringgren Loven and started to treat
him like her own child. As I see it, she is beautiful in and out having a great big heart helping the boy
to have a normal life and healthy safe life. This is defined as ‘Beauty’.

Getting to the point, real beauty is confidence and kindness, but while large number of people think
that beauty is just about look. One of the reason is social media, it is a vast platform for everyone.
Young teenagers have issues such as low self-esteem, lack of confidence and many more. This is
mainly due to the impact of social media. Most time being spent nowadays is on this platform.
Especially during this pandemic when lockdowns takes place. They tend to get plastic surgeries after
seeing post by other women's like the Kardashian which also get into many other side effects such as
infection, bruising , surgery problems, excessive bleeding and a lot more. Some teenagers also spend
their money and time on branded beauty products including Kylie, Mac, Ysl, Chanel, Sephora and
way too much. All these points are not only applicable for teenagers to also some adults and elderly
people.
 As a conclusion, ‘beauty lies in the eyes of beholder’ . Means the opinion of beauty is different
in the eyes of different individual.
