COMMUNICATION (KOMUNIKASI)

STATE THE PROCEDURE OF MAN OVER BOARD


i. Use rudder and engines as appropriate to avoid the MOB
ii. Drop a lifebuoy
iii. Report to the CO/OOW by the quickest means permitted by the communication policy
enforces
iv. Sound at least 6 short blast
v. Maneuvers accordingly to the peacetime and wartime recovery maneuvers
vi. Secure active sonar if tactical situation permits
vii. Hoist flag OSCAR where best seen at day
viii. Display 2 vertical red lights pulsating 50 to 60 pulses per minute at night

LIMITATION OF WHEELING
i. SINGLE COLUMN – wheel must not exceed 180 degrees
ii. SINGLE LINE ABREAST – wheel must not exceed 90 degrees
iii. MULTIPLE COLUMN – wheel must not exceed 90 degrees
iv. MULTIPLE LINE ABREAST – wheel must not exceed 90 degrees
v. DIAMOND FORMATION – wheel must not exceed 30 degrees

RESTRICTION OF WHEELING
Wheel is not to be carried out (prohibited) on the following occasions :

 when ships are in the circular formation


 when ships are formed on a line of bearing
 when line guides are neither astern nor abeam or one another except CORPEN DELTA
FLEET ORGANISATION DEFINITION

1. If breakdown occur the first requirement is to avoid endangering other ships in company
2. Signal from a disabled ship
 Sound at least 6 short blasts
 By day – hoist flag 5 and 2 black balls (vertically)
 By night – show 2 vertical red lights
3. If making a turn
 Sound 1 short blast when turn to starboard
 Sound 2 short blasts when turn to port

Loud Your signal is very strong

Good Your signal strength is good


Weak Your signal strength is weak

Very Weak Your signal strength is very weak


Fading At times your signal strength fades to such an extent that continuous reception
cannot be relied upon
