FOREWORD

DDS35 electric spooler is one of the drilling rig tools. Its capability for winding rope length is

variable depending on user’s drilling rig requirements.

For better operation of the spooler, we prepared this “OPERATION MANUAL OF ELECTRIC

WIRELINE SPOOLER”. It has described generally technical parameter, installation and debugging,

lubrication and maintenance etc. Please read it carefully before installation and operation.

Please select spare parts according to its parts drawing book if you need.

There is a factory code for each spooler. It is required to tell its model and the factory code

when you order parts or enquiry about it.

I Safety warnings
The personnel who is occupied in installation, operation and maintenance of the generator house

should be trained and qualified, and carryout the work with operation certificate.

The operator must read the related manuals before start to operate the equipment carefully. He

can operate or maintain the equipment only when he knows well the functions and operation or

maintenance of the equipment.

There must be a chief principal for installation, operation and maintenance; and persons who

participate in the work should be assigned clearly; and detailed and reliable safety measures should

be taken.

All the equipments should be used strictly in accordance with their operating rules and related

safety regulations.

The equipment might not be operated in the dark unless there are lighting devices.

All the persons on duty must put on safety wares according to the related regulations.

The proper lifting and transportation equipments should be used for the operating weight.

Before disconnecting any high pressure pipeline or hose, the pressure inside should be zero.

When connect the wire for electric apparatus the similar requirement should be met; be sure to cut off

electric power supply before start to repair or operate the electric apparatus.

It is forbidden to maintain and repair the equipment during its operation.

It is forbidden to overload the equipment.

Don’t point high pressure air at human body, because it may cause human injure. It is forbidden

to run ball bearing or roller bearing with high pressure air. Don’t point high pressure air at fire.

II Operation & maintenance

The electric wireline spooler is specialized equipment for unwinding and winding the drilling

line. This equipment can realize the mechanization of winding and unwinding of the drilling line,

which can improve the work efficiency and lighten the work intensity of the worker.

This wireline spooler is convenient for installation, easy to operate and reliable in working. The

power from the three-phase asynchronous motor is transmitted to the spooler shaft by means of the

cycloid decelerator and the flexible belt transmission.

3 Installation and debugging

3.1 Firstly install the motor (No. 3) and pinion (No. 5) on two ends of the decelerator (No. 4 )

respectively, then install them on frame (No. 1) (as Fig. 1);

3.2 Then assemble the supporting shaft assembly well and install it on the frame. Rotate the

bigger gear (driven gear) by hand to ensure a good mesh and a free rotation of the gear drive (as Fig

2). Notice: retract the shift lever of the transmission shift lever to make it not outside of the

supporting shaft in order to easy installation of the reel shaft assy. and the reel drum

accommodated with wireline

3.3 Take out the right reel shaft taper bushing ( 2 pieces, L and R), the orientation ring and bolts

first, then install the drum accommodated with wireline, make the taper bushing covered the bores of

the drum, then cover the shaft with the orientation ring, tighten the orientation ring with bolt (as Fig

4).

3.4 Install the bearing seat on both end of the reel shaft assembly with rope reel, then hoist it

and fasten its’ left side to the supporting shaft, fasten its’ right side with the frame, then tight the

fixing bolts on them. Inject the oil nipple of the bearing seat with lubrication grease. Meanwhile,

move out the handle of the transmission shift lever to make the shift lever inserting the rope reel’s

groove, move the handle into B groove. The transmission shift lever assembly could be moved up

and down, so do that and refasten it at a proper location. Move the drum to ensure the rotation of the

drum, the gearwheel and the pinion are agile.

3.5 Connect the two transverse beams to frame with bolts.

3.6 Install the brake assembly according to Fig 5, rotate the rope drum (reel) with hand, then

press the brake handle to check whether the brake works well, adjust it until the brake works

properly.

3.7 Connect the electric circuit according to the circuit diagram and start the motor to examine

the rotation of the rope reel (drum), gears and their mesh, then turn off it and operate the brake

handle to examine the braking to the drum.

The lubrication grease used is lithium base grease.

5 Maintenance
5.1 Check and accept. Make complement and repair if there is any part loss or damage of the
equipment in delivery.
5.2 The electric wireline spooler should be laid on a flat base in good rigidity or on flat ground.
Fill it up with mats if there is any roughness in some part.
5.3 The electrical wireline spooler be put at outdoor, dip in water should be prevented, the
drainage should be freely, and waterproof cloth should be used to cover it.
5.4 Other protective actions are up to the user.
5.5 Before every use, check whether there is sufficient lubrication grease in the two bearing
seats and on the gearwheel and the pinion, add grease as necessary.
