2. Product description

2.1 Purpose

The DW trailer is one of the important components of ZJ40DBST

drilling rig and used for placing and transporting DW and HPU. The DW and

2
User Manual of DW Trailer of ZJ40DBST Drilling Rig

the HPU form a trailing module by using the DW trailer. When drilling rig is
moved and transported, transport the trailer to an assigned position, install the
DW and the HPU in position as per the requirements in the drawing, support
the trailer to a corresponding height by using supporting components, and
connect corresponding cables of the DW. The DW trailer of ZJ40DBST
drilling rig is used for quickly transporting the DW to an appointed destination
after a well is completed and the DW is moved to the next well. As the DW
and the trailer form an independent module, disconnection is not needed in the
transportation process, the transportation cost can be saved, and the time is
saved.

end of the hydraulic cylinder by using pins, and then operate the hydraulic cylinder
to jack up the trailer base, lock the piston rod when it extends out approaching the
maximum stroke (does not lock at the maximum stroke), so that the piston rod of
the hydraulic cylinder can extend out a little to loosen the locking nut when
unlocking.
Support the whole trailer base with the supporting hydraulic cylinders, keep
the upper plane of the trailer horizontal, and simultaneously lock hydraulic lock.
4.4.4 Place and fix the DW on the trailer, and install and fix HPU on trailer.
4.4.5 Install platforms, handrails and ladders to corresponding positions. So far,
the installation of the DW and the HPU in a working supporting state is completed.
4.5 Commissioning
4.5.1 Before the trailing transportation of the trailer, check the safety and the
equipment status completely. Main contents to be checked are as follows:
1. Check tires for wear and state and tire pressure for conformity with requirements.
2. Check axles and surface of rigid suspension for deformation or cracks, the rotating
parts for favorable lubrication, flexible rotation and firm and reliable installation,
the brake clearance of hubs for conformity with requirements (please see the
operating instruction manual of rigid suspension for the adjustment of brake
clearance).
3. Check the welded parts of the trailer base for damage, the pins at joints for locking
with safety pins, and the bolts, nuts, spring washers and split pins for
completeness.
4. Check the hydraulic control system for flexible operation and the pipes and quick
release joints for correct and reliable connection.
5 Check trailing module and other modules of drilling rig for complete separation
before transportation disconnect the cables, pipelines and connectors etc
connected with other modules, and reliably fix the movable parts of the trailing
module.
4.5.2 When the trailer is connected with tractor, check traction pins of the tractor
saddle for complete opening necessarily, usually the saddle has an automatic
7
User Manual of DW Trailer of ZJ40DBST Drilling Rig

combination function, the traction hook is locked automatically after the traction
pins are placed in position, but lock the saddle push rod after the saddle is
combined with the traction pins.
4.5.3 After the trailer is connected with the tractor properly, plug a power plug, check
lamps for good condition and normal display, connect joint of air pipe, open air
valve switch to check air line for smoothness and leakage, place shut-off switch
in air line at 'on' position before running, operate hydraulic control system so that
hydraulic cylinders are completely retracted (notice: retract the mechanical
supporting legs connected with the supporting hydraulic cylinders), and then
remove the pipes connected with the hydraulic cylinders .
4.5.4 Check the trailer for braking reliability at any time in the trailer running
process, check axles and rigidly hung hubs for heat generation or over heat
phenomenon after running half an hour, immediately adjust the clearance
between the friction plate and the brake hub if any, and in the adjustment of
the clearance between the friction plate and the hub, ensure that the brake hub
does not over heat but also brakes reliability when the trailing device runs for
a long time.
4.5.5 After the trailer runs within 1km, stop to check bolts on tires for looseness to
ensure transportation safety, and check at any time in the transportation process.
4.5.6 The disengagement between the trailer and the tractor is carried out as per the
following steps:
1. Firstly connect the hydraulic cylinders and the hydraulic control system, check
the hydraulic cylinder for oil leakage, and then operate the hydraulic cylinders,
otherwise, exhaust the hydraulic cylinders and then perform operation.
2. Stop the trailer at an appointed device, extend the supporting hydraulic
cylinder out of the ground to a proper position.
3 Before separation, pull up circuit plugs of the tractor and joints of pneumatic
braking circuit, and place the separating switch in the air line to 'off' position.
Unplug the safeguard of saddle pull rod, remove the traction pins and then
separate the tractor.
8
User Manual of DW Trailer of ZJ40DBST Drilling Rig

4. After separation, lock supporting hydraulic cylinders with mechanical locking

nuts, lock auxiliary supporting legs with bolts, all disconnected and exposed
hydraulic and air lines shall be sealed, warp up threads at ends to prevent threads
from being damaged and keep cleanness inside pipe.

5. Lubrication

Ensure effective lubrication of all rotating components and

corresponding contact surfaces. Before and after the trailer is used, fill or coat
lubricating grease on traction pins, traction pin working surfaces, hydraulic
cylinder oscillating bearing, screw rods in contact with hydraulic cylinder
locking nuts and brake cam shaft end etc. The lubricating oil adopts NLGI 2
compound lithium base grease, fill oil once before trailing, and fill oil once
three months.

6. Maintenance

6.1 A person shall be specially assigned to maintain the trailer, and partial troubles
shall be handled by professional vehicle repair departments.
6.2 Periodically check the paint quality on the surfaces of the trailing device and
repair in time if the paint is damaged.
6.3 The main bearing component of the trailer is trailing base, and if any crack on
weld joints or other damage or deformation is discovered on the frame, repair and
correct in time.
6.4 Check nuts on traction pins, tire bolts and mounting bolts of axles and rigid
suspension before use every time, looseness is not allowed, and screw up if any;
use the mounting bolts of axle and the rigid suspension and the tire bolts etc as
per the marks in a general assembly drawing, and do not use common bolts.
6.5 Periodically check the air line system and the circuit system on the trailing base
for looseness and fasten them if any. Prevent the pipe system from accumulating

9
User Manual of DW Trailer of ZJ40DBST Drilling Rig

condensate water, and periodically drain the condensate water in the air reservoir.
6.6 After the trailer is used for a period of time, check the pipe joints for tightness,
perform leakage test, check the doubtful positions by coating suds on the
positions, and eliminate leakage by screwing down joints if any. When the trailer
is moved, ensure the pressure in the pneumatic brake pipe system cannot be less
than 0.65MPa. Clean inflating valve clearly before inflation of tires.
6.7 Check hydraulic oil cylinders, pipelines and hydraulic control valves before use
every time, remove troubles and leakage or replace them in time.
6.8 Do not stick any grease on the inner surfaces of the axles and rigidly hung brake
hubs and the outer surfaces of the brake plates, and clean clearly with proper
solvent if any.
6.9 For the maintenance of hydraulic cylinders, axles and rigid suspension, please
refer to their operation instruction manuals.
6.10 When the trailing device is not used, perform waterproof, moistureproof and
rust-proof treatment, and avoid impact in disassembly and lifting to prevent from
damaging parts.

Common sense for tire use

I. Cautions for tire use
The tire is mainly made of rubber and framework material (such as nylon cord,
steel cord etc), various materials show different characteristic changes when
temperature rises, but the nylon cord, different from other materials, shrinks when
being heated. The aging process of rubber is accelerated due to high temperature,
therefore, the main reason for the damage of the tire is that the temperature of the tire
body is too high.
When the temperature of the tire is too high, stop and decrease the temperature.
After the temperature of the tire body becomes high temperature, the decrement of the
physical and mechanical performances of the rubber and the cord may be caused; the
adhesive force between the rubber and the cord is decreased, the aging is quickened,
the crown part, the shoulder part and the side part of the tire are easy to empty and
delaminate, and the tire crown and the tire shoulder are easy to blast under the action
of external force impact.
In the use process, users must follow the Regulation of Application and
Maintenance of Tire, and 1st level and 2nd level maintenance shall be performed to the
tire while performing the 1st level and the 2nd level maintenance to the car.
(I) Air pressure
The tire shall be inflated as per specified standard, and early damage to the tire
can be caused by too high or too low air pressure.
(II) Load
Due to overload, the service life of the components of the car and the tire can be
shortened, the deformation of the tire body is increased, the contact area with the
ground is increased, the wear of the tire surface is quickened, the temperature of the
tire rises quickly, and the tire is damaged beforehand.
(III) Running speed
1. There are different speed limitations to different tires, and the early damage to
the tires can be caused due to overspeed running.
2. When the road condition is bad, the tires are impacted by obstacles on road
and then damaged due to high speed.
3. The tire body generates heat quickly during high speed running, and the
performances of tire decrease.

16
User Manual of DW Trailer of ZJ40DBST Drilling Rig

4. Tire with high ply rating and large load is not suitable for high speed running.
II. Cautions for tire assembly
1. Tire must be assembled on specified car types and rims
in accordance with standards, and the same vehicle shall be
provided with the tires with the same brand, specification,
structure, pattern and ply rating. Radial tires and bias belted
tires cannot be assembled on the same vehicle.
2. The tire must be inflated as per standards, and tire can
be damaged due to too high or too low air pressure. Frequently
check and supplement air pressure so that the air pressure meets a specified value. The
tire generates heat after running, the air pressure rises, stop the vehicle to decrease
temperature, and do not discharge air.
3. The load of the tire cannot exceed the standard load, and unbalanced load shall
be avoided when loading goods.
4. Check the rim for conformity with standards in tire installation, do not use
damaged or deformed rim, and check air tightness for the inflating valve of the rim
without inner tire. While replacing new tire without inner tube, replace a new inflating
valve simultaneously.
(In the picture, 正确=correct, 不正确=incorrect)
III. Proper use of tire
1. Air pressure, be in accordance with
standards and increase the air pressure for
serious overload properly.
2. Load: be in accordance with
standards and uniformly distribute load.
3. Transposition: perform transposition periodically as per standard methods.
4. Vehicle condition: adjust in time in case of problems.
(In the picture, 正确=correct, 不正确=incorrect)
IV. Common sense for tire use and maintenance
(I) Air pressure
1. Tire shall be inflated as per the air pressure of
parallel table for 'air pressure and load' specified in
current national standards.

17
User Manual of DW Trailer of ZJ40DBST Drilling Rig

2. Check the tire for air leakage after inflation, and repair in time if any.
3. Ensure normal internal pressure of the tire in use. Check the tire for air
pressure after long-time running or operating. Lift the front and back axles for parking
for a long time.
4. The tire wears and blasts easily if the air pressure is high, and the tire deforms
and is crushed easily if the air pressure is low.
5. When two tires are assembled side by side, the inflating pressure of the two
tires must be consistent.
(In the picture, 气压正常=normal air pressure, 气压过高=too high air pressure,
气压过低=too low air pressure)
(II) Load
1. The tire load shall accord with the load specified in current national standard,
do not overload.
2. Distribute goods on vehicle uniformly, and avoid unbalanced load.
3. Serious overload can cause abnormal wear, separation, delaminating and toe
blasting etc.
4. Tire with high ply rating and large load is not suitable for high speed running.
5. Properly increase load for reinforced tires as per design standards.
(III) Speed
1. There are different speed limitations to different tires, and the early damage to
the tires can be caused due to overspeed running.
2. When the road condition is not good, do not run at overspped, reduce
emergency braking and sudden turn as much as possible, prevent tire from impacting
other objects, particularly sharp objects.
3. The temperature of tire rises during high speed running, and once the
temperature rise is too high, take measures immediately (such as stop to decease
temperature naturally) to prevent tire from blasting.
4. Perform dynamic balance detection, counterweight and correction for high
speed tire and vehicle assembly.
(IV) Pattern
1. Circumferential pattern with small rolling resistance and quick speed is
suitable for hard roads such as cement road and asphalt road.
2. Transverse pattern with strong griping force and good climbing performance is

18
User Manual of DW Trailer of ZJ40DBST Drilling Rig

suitable for common roads.

3. Combined with the features of the circumferential pattern and the transverse
pattern, dual purpose tread pattern is suitable for asphaltic road, cement concrete road
and slushy road.
4. Cross-country tread pattern is suitable for unsurfaced or poor roads.
5. Stop using the tire when the pattern is worn to an abrasion sign.
(V). Storage
1. Store tires in warehouse and avoid sun and rain.
2. Leave tires away from heat source, generating equipment and places
generating ozone.
3. Do not place tires with oils, combustibles and chemical corrosives together.
4. Place the tires uprightly, do not place horizontally, stack or suspend the tires.
5. Use the tires as per production and warehousing time, and the storage time
cannot be more than three years.
(VI) Vehicle condition
1. Frequently detect and adjust the toe-in of the front
wheels, otherwise eccentric wear and early damage of tires
can be caused.
2. Do not use rims which are corroded, deform and do
not accord with specifications, otherwise, toe can be worn.
(In the picture, 前束调整不正确= incorrect toe-in adjustment, 外轮辋调整不
正确=incorrect outer rim adjustment, 底盘大架变形=chassis frame deforms)
(VII). Transposition
1. Perform transposition to tires periodically.
2. Perform transposition every time after running
8000Km.
3. 1st level maintenance shall be carried out on for
truck tire and engineering machinery tire in
combination with the 1st level maintenance of vehicle. Transposition shall be
conducted if necessary (such as severe side wear) maintain even abrasion of tread
pattern; 2nd level maintenance of tire shall be carried out in combination with the 2nd
level maintenance of vehicle, record and deal with problems if any.
4. Exchange the left and right agricultural tires after running for a period of time.

19
User Manual of DW Trailer of ZJ40DBST Drilling Rig

(VIII). Load and transportation

1. Lift the tire from a side of the tire with a forklift, does
not lift the tire from the center when the tire is transported with
the forklift.
2. Lift the tire directly with wide fiber band rather than
with rope, hook or fork.
3. A set of tires shall be packed with rope or packaging bag to prevent fall and
damage.
4. Correctly distribute goods on vehicle.
(In the picture, 正确=correct, 不正确=incorrect)
(IX). Assembly
1. Assemble tires on specified car type and vehicle, mount
and disassemble tires with special tools and machines, do not pry
and tamp violently.
2. The same axle shall be provided with the tires with the same specification,
structure, pattern and ply rating.
3. Do not assemble oblique crossing tire and radial tire together.
4. When assembling the patterned tires, the rotation direction mark of the tires
shall be consistent with the running direction of the vehicle.
5. Assemble and disassemble the engineering machinery tire and tubeless tire as
per related specification.
6. Tires with skid chains shall be assembled symmetrically, and disassemble the
tires immediately if the tires are not used.
(In the picture, 正确=correct, 不正确=incorrect)
(X). Inner tube
1. Select the inner tube as per the specification of tire.
2. Early damage to cover tire can be caused due to air leakage of the inner tube.
3. High-speed tire shall be provided with butyl rubber inner tube with high
temperature resistance and good air tightness.
4. Properly inflate the inner tube which is stored separately, do not fold, place
horizontally or stack. Store the inner tube in cover tire and inflate it properly if the
inner tube is not stored separately.
