switchgear

SFL Double-break two-position rotary switch-disconnector using the SF6

sweeping self-blowing technique on contacts. The epoxy-resin moulded
enclosure has a transparent thermoplastic cover. Relative gas pressure
is 0.4 bar.

rated current (A) 400 - 630
short-time
withstand current (kA/1 s) 20 20 16 16

HAR Autoexpansion-type separate-pole circuit-breaker filled with SF6 at a

relative pressure of 2.5 bars.
Each pole consists of a breaking element housed in an epoxy-resin
moulded enclosure. It is designed to obtain cubicles with disconnectable
or withdrawable circuit-breakers. It can also be proposed with built-in
SF6 protection.

VD4 S Vacuum-type bulb circuit-breaker. The assembly is protected by

insulating tubes in order to increase creepage distances and mechanical
protection. Just like the HAR, it can be disconnectable or withdrawable.

Weak points

general
this equipment is not approved as in the EDF HN 64-S-41
specification. However the TOM 6, alternative version for EDF, is still
in the process of being officially approved.
the policy of selling switchgear to independent panel builders may
result in possible failure to master the local manufacturing process.
Major technical risks with design choices or performance levels
different from those announced are also possible.
there are two SFL switches which meet installations at 17.5 and 24 kV.
However, if voltage changes, cubicles must be changed.
dielectric withstand
The enclosure is designed with screens and wells on each phase: a
genuine condensation trap.
installation
The LV box at the top part of the cubicle also contains the switch control
mechanism drive unit. Should changes be made, this extension must
therefore be provided for, allowing for ergonomics.
maintenance
the switch (SF6) and the earthing switch (air) are separate.
Annual maintenance on the earthing-switch blades and on the electrical
contacts in the air is recommended, which involves lengthy interruption
of operation.
the link between the switch control mechanism and the drive unit
in the LV box is performed by chain. Maintenance must therefore be
envisaged.
performances
limited to 20 kA/17.5 kV and 16 kA/24 kV for the entire range,
except for the circuit-breaker cubicles limited to 16 kA/17.5 kV.
protection of transformers by fuse-switch is limited to 2000 kVA/24 kV.

Strong points
safety of persons
the equipment has a degree of protection of IP3X.
MG answer:
the IP2XC meets market constraints and needs for secondary
distribution. However studies are underway to increase the IP.
a rear gas-pipe vent is proposed as an option.
MG answer:
this adaptation is performed in Scandinavia as in PEHLA standards.
