2.2.2 Crane operation

(1) Start the work following the sign by the leader after having verified that no
persons are on and around the cargo.
(2) As the primary preliminary hoisting, drive the hoisting gear until the wire rope
is tensioned. At this time correct the center of crane hook so as to coincide
with the center of gravity of cargo and verify the condition of the cargo.
(3) As the secondary preliminary hoisting, hoist the cargo until the cargo height
reaches about 100 mm above the floor. Stop hoisting there and verify the
horizontal condition of cargo and the relative position of center of gravity of
cargo to the hook again.
In addition, apply guide ropes for stabilizing the cargo.
(4) After completion of preliminary hoisting, hoist the cargo slowly, intermittently
and little by little.
(5) The hoisting height shall not exceed the necessary height. Do not swivel the
cargo during hoisting. The crane operator shall not leave his seat while the
cargo is in suspended condition.
(6) After having brought the cargo to the destination, hoist down it slowly,
intermittently and little by little. Never hoist down or stop rapidly, as it is
dangerous.
(7) Hoist down the cargo onto the floor in a low speed. Stop hoisting down once
when the cargo approaches skids. After verifying the horizontal condition and
the position of cargo, hoist down it on the floor.
(8) Remove the wire ropes first after verifying that the cargo has been stabilized
and the slung wires have been loosened.
(9) For transferring the crane to another position, do not leave wires staying on its
hook.

INR-HJ5048 9/25
2.3 Cargo handling using a forklift
The cargo handling using a forklift is applied if no crane is available. The following
points shall be followed:
(1) Verify carefully the mass and the height of center of gravity of cargo. Select such
a forklift, as has proper abilities including the lifting capacity, fork length and width.
(2) Select a flat road surface in a good condition for the transport route.
(3) Do not lift cargo with the mast of forklift tilted forward. Lift always with the mast
tilted a little backward.
(4) The fork height shall be about 200 mm above the floor and travel with fork in the
lowest possible position.
(5) Rapid start and stop are strictly forbidden.
(6) If the sight of driver is disturbed by its cargo, the forklift shall be accompanied by
a pilot and shall travel little by little.
(7) Unload the cargo from a forklift without allowing it trundling or tumbling down.
3 Inspection
Inspect the cargo as below after unloading:
(1) Verify the number of cargos based on the packing list.
(2) Verify the package condition if such abnormality as a failure or a damage is found.
(3) Verify if any trace of invasion of rain water is found.

II Carrying in
Use a crane for carrying in cargos and transporting them to the installation site and do it
according as Item 2.2 of Chapter I (Unloading). If no crane is available for transport to
installation site, follow the item 2 of this chapter.
Carry in cargos in principle in the packaged condition, however, if it is inevitable to carry in it
after opening the package at the unloaded site due to circumstances of the installation site,
proceed according to the procedure below:
1 Preparation of carrying-in entrance
(1) Around the carrying-in entrance, the road surface shall be brought to a good condition
for easy passage of trucks and truck cranes and sufficient road width for carrying-in
shall be secured (see Fig. 3).
(2) If the carrying-in entrance floor is higher than the road surface, install an interim
unloading base sufficiently resistible against the cargo weight (see Fig. 4).
(3) Stopper against slip shall be arranged at the end or the like of interim unloading base,
for preventing tumbling and fall of cargos (see Fig. 4).

2 Transport by traction on rollers

As this work accompanies dangers, investigate the conditions carefully in advance as
well as let well experienced workers be engaged in the work.
Co-workers shall follow the instructions and signs by the leader and shall pay full
attention to safety.

2.1 Preparation
(1) Organize the working team. Determine the number of workers corresponding to the
difficulty of the work in advance.
(2) Determine the team leader. Make all the workers well informed of the working
methods and caution items in the pervious day of work.
(3) Prior to the work, investigate the strength and quantity of used machines and tools
and bring them in perfect condition.
(4) Put the transport route in good condition.
(5) Mount traction wire ropes, determine the foundation for traction gear as well as
investigate if it has a sufficient strength.
(6) If cargos shall be transported indoors by traction on rollers, it is feared to damage the
floor. For avoiding it, lay guide plates on the rout as follows:
a. Lay guide plates flat so that the load is exerted uniformly.
b. Install the butting faces of guide plates according to any of Fig. 5.

2.2 Transport by traction on rollers (see Fig. 6 and 7)
(1) Place rollers between guide plates and cargo skid with intervals of about 300 to 500
mm to the traveling direction. Steel pipes, steel bars or oak bars are used for the
roller. Select suitable rollers of diameter depending on the cargo mass.
(2) Sling wire ropes for traction of cargos at the skid for cargos except for those cargos,
which have special setup for transporting by traction on rollers.
(3) Pay special care at the moment when cargos are starting to move by traction and
subject to the following procedure:
a. Start the work with a definite sign by the leader. The sign shall be given by only one
person and never operate any traction gear (for example, winch) without the sign.
Never allow someone to enter into the traction wire rope area.
b. Check slip and mutual contact condition of rollers so that the rollers do not stray off
the cargo.
c. When traction is executed using two or more traction gears, check if traction forces
are exerted uniformly.
d. Take care that your hand or foot does not get caught, when you insert rollers under
the cargo.
e. Take care of springing up of rollers, when the cargo is put on rollers.
f. Take care of transport by traction on rollers in rain, because everything is slippery.
(4) For ceasing a transport by traction on rollers, be sure to insert stoppers between the
cargo and guide plates for preventing from unintended move of the cargo.
(5) Change the traveling direction as below:
a. Arrange rollers in advance one by one shifting little by little to the direction to be
guided.
b. Take care that rollers do not stray off guide plates or skid for cargo.
c. Correct the position of rollers under cargo using a hammer or the like. If it is difficult
to correct by a hammer, correct it using a jack.

Note: These high-voltage inverter panel and base channel shall be transported and
installed as a integral unit as the standard. In case that base channel is installed
beforehand, intermediate base is required between the panel and base channel (optional).

2 Installation of panel main body

2.1 Verification of installation position
To let the panel fully function, its foundation and installation condition must be
constructed properly. Therefore, verify the following items before the installation:
(1) Verify its relative dimensions to building and pillars and the direction of serial
panel configuration.
(2) Verify the relative dimensions of cable pits and embedding positions of base
channels based on the cable pit drawing and foundation drawing.
(3) Verify the level of panel using such a measuring instrument as a transit and a
level.

2.2 Centering
For installation of a panel, mark the positions of foundation bolts , the center lines and
contour lines of the panel by means of marking or the like.

INR-HJ5048 13/25
2.3 Installation of panel body
Install the panel on the foundation in the following sequence:
(1) Bore the embedding holes for foundation bolts according to 2.2 and outline
drawing.
(2) Put the panel on the installation surface and verify if the embedding holes for
foundation bolts are matched with the foundation bolt holes in base channel.
(3) Fasten the foundation bolts to the base channel provisionally. At this time,
position the foundation bolts so that their tops stay 5 mm over the upper face of
nuts (see Fig. 9).
(4) Measure the level of panel at 1000 mm intervals using such measuring
instrument as a transit. Figure 10 shows a case of measuring the level using a
spirit level.
(5) Insert adjusting liners between the installation face and the base channel for
adjustment, if the level of panel or the differential height between panel and floor
face do not satisfy the specified level. Prepare the liners in various thickness
(see Fig. 10).
(6) After adjustment using liners verify if the level of panel stays within about ±1 mm
measured at intervals of 1000 mm. At measuring the level using a sprit level,
adjust so that the bubble stays at the center of spirit level (see Fig. 10).
(7) After verifying the proper placement of base channel, moist around the
embedding holes for foundation bolts and grout them.
(8) After hardening of the concrete, fasten fully the nuts for foundation bolts. At this
time, verify the level of base channel again.

(Note) Box-hole type anchor construction method using L bolts is illustrated below but
construct similarly for a hole-in-anchor construction and any other construction
methods, and keep the level and construct so that sufficient adhesion strength
with the floor is attained.

3. Cleaning of panel inside
Remove sufficiently the dust and dirt that have adhered to panels during construction after completion
of the installation.
In particular, because adhesion of dust to contact points of devices may cause imperfect contacts,
clean the points with dry clothes, etc.
In addition, close the door during the installation in order to reduce dust that may enter the panels.
Especially, cover the equipment with vinyl sheets and the like where there is much dust.
Moreover, because dew condensation may occur on the equipment and devices at places with high
humidity or much alternation of temperature, protect the equipment appropriately during the prior
period of start-up of the equipment.

4. Methods to tighten
Use specified materials and parts correctly to tighten, and connect them under paying
attentions to following items.
(1) Use a torque wrench to tighten bolts with torque corresponding to nominal diameters.
(2) Tighten bolts by turning the nuts.
(3) Check whether any negligence of tightening have occurred.
(4) Tighten bolts without unevenness if 2 bolts or more are used.

M6: 5.6 N•m M16: 115 N•m
M8: 13.3 N•m

5 Check of tightening
If any negligence of tightening or any shortages of tightening torques may have occurred,
those may cause troubles. Therefore, confirm that the bolts are secured by specified torques
with the torque wrench, and put a check-mark on the nuts and bolts as shown in Figure 18.
Use “red color” when confirming the tightening of bolts and nuts, because “blue color” was
used as the marks when those were tightened at our factory.
In addition, pay attention not to overlap with the “blue marks” put at our factory.

6. Connections of control wirings

6.1 Points to be connected at installation

When panels are separated by each transportation unit, control wirings between panels are
also separated corresponding to them. Joint them surely after completing installation of
main bodies.
In addition, conduct connections of control wirings using connectors, but, if uses of terminal
blocks for the connections in accordance with optional specifications, connect the wires to
trunk terminals blocks, wiring device numbers of which are marked with “Y” (an example:
Y2) (See Figure 19 and 20.)
