ACADEMIC INTERVENTION PROGRAM

Academic intervention is the opportunity for students who do not have a basic understanding of skills and/or learning targets during the regular classroom time to
receive additional help outside of their regular classroom.

GENERAL INTERVENTION

In STA, the following interventions are being practiced in the New Normal Education:

Activating prior knowledge In every module, there is always an Explore part which motivates students to
engage in the lesson

Checking for understanding during lessons Processing questions and Worksheets are given every module to check the
students’ understanding.

Giving students talk time Students are given different means for them to connect to their subject teachers
like (text message, Fb Messenger,e-mail)

Giving students time to practice Modules are given in two weeks basis. Time schedule is given. And students
are given ample time to practice most especially in their mini tasks and final
performance task time.

Incorporating visual aids Learning modules have illustrations, diagrams or uses any non-linear texts to
further understand the lessons.
Modeling /Demonstrating Instructional and supplemental videos like for Math and Science subjects are
provided through the Offline Digital Module Repository System.

Setting them up for success Students perform better when they fully understand what is expected of
them. Describe the purpose of the module and give them concrete examples of
the learning goals they are expected to achieve. Give them clear directions and
show them exemplars of high quality work. Finally, provide them with a rubric so
they know exactly what to do to successfully master the concept.

The following tools are to be used by the class advisers and subject teachers to further identify and examine the students’ difficulty while dealing with their
learning modules:
 Class directory (see attached format)
 Concern / Query Form (see attached format)
 Result/Scores of their subjects’ worksheets
All learning modules of the different subjects contain all contact details of the subject teacher so that whenever the students have queries or wants
clarifications they can connect to the teacher in many ways. (a sample cover page of a learning module is shown in the next page)
The teachers/advisers have a directory of the advisory class so they can contact them from time to time including of course the contact numbers of their
parents or guardians.
The teachers also have Fb Messenger group chat and an Fb class group so whenever you have announcement or important information to be
disseminated, they can easily spread it.
From time to time, the teachers will keep in touch with the students to remind them that they are still there for them.
After the class advisers/subject teachers giving actions to the various academic concerns, all data will be submitted to the academic coordinator for further
review, assessment, and evaluation which is in weekly basis. Plan and Action will follow right after upon the approval of the school principal.
Provide options for tutoring – Choose the option that works best for the unique student in need depending on the situation and the student’s personality
one may work better than the other.
When Face to Face learning is NOT YET ALLOWED
 Set up a way for student to be tutored online in any ways where the teacher and students interact productively.
When Face to Face learning will be allowed
 Peer tutoring – Students who are struggling in a specific subject will be paired to students who excelled on that subject.
 Traditional route – The teacher could meet the student morning before school, during lunch, or after school.
 Set up a way for student to be tutored online through a tool like a digital curriculum.
