5. Motivation
Before we start the lesson let's play
first a game. It is called "Pass the
message." I am going to group you
into three/two according to your
seating arrangement. The first
student seating on the left side is
going to read the word I am going
to provide and then he/she is going
to pass it to the student seating next
to her and the last student to receive
the message is going to write it on
the board. The first group who
finish and get the correct spelling of
the message wins and will receive
their prizes.

6. Presentation of the topic

Our lesson for today is all about
The Two Brothers.

B. Developmental Activities

relationship?
Yes Student 3

From the pictures I have provided,

what does the first group of pictures
show?

The pictures show the love of the siblings

with each other.
Yes Student 4

Very good.

How about the second group of

photos, what does it shows? The pictures show that the siblings are
fighting.
Yes Student 5

2. Analysis
From the pictures shown on the
board, have you ever gotten into a Yes Ma'am
fight with your sister or brother
about a certain issue?

Who wants to share their

experience about your fight with
your sibling? And how did you
solve that problem? (Student shares her experience)

Yes Student 6
Very good.

I asked those questions because our

lesson is all about The two brothers.

3. Abstraction
The two brothers is an Egyptian
short story. The author of this story
is anonymous, meaning the author
is unknown. It is also considered as
one of the oldest short story.
The story is all about the two
brothers

ANPU BATA
Anpu was
the elder and
Bata was the
younger.
When their
parents
died, Anpu was already married and
had a house of his own.

And so he took his little brother to

leave with him and he treated him
like his son. When the little brother
grew to be a young man, he was an
excellent worker; there was not his
equal in the whole land.

"the spirit of God was within him" It means that Bata possesses all the good
characteristics a man could have.
What do you think is the meaning
of this statement that describes
Bata?

Yes Student 7

Okay, very good

Every morning the younger brother

followed his oxen and worked all
day in the fields, and every evening
he returned to the house with
vegetables, milk, and wood. This is
his everyday routine.

Because Anpu loved his younger brother

very much, his wife became very jealous
and she wanted to destroy Bata. One day
when Anpu and Bata were in the fields,

Who can read the message in the
conversation bubble?

"get up and give me some corn that I may

run to the field for my elder brother is in a
hurry. Do not delay. "

Yes Student 9

At night Anpu returned home

earlier than his brother because
Bata had much work to do in the
fields. Anpu was met by his wife
who was crying bitterly. She
showed him her arms and legs
which she had painted black and
blue and accused Bata of having
beaten her up.

that?

What are you going to do to Bata?

Yes Student 10

Very good.

And Anpu became very angry; he

sharpened his knife and waited for
Bata in the stable.
Bata came home as usual loaded
with herbs, milk, and wood. And as
he entered the door, he saw the feet
of his brother and the sharp knife
hanging by his side. The brother
sprang at him and Bata fled praying
to the God Ra

But
when
you

you
need
to show through your reading the
emotion of Bata when he is saying
those words. I want you to act as if
you were Bata.

Very good.

Ra heard his cry; he made a river

flow between one brother and the
other and filled it with crocodiles.

For the next conversation bubbles I

volunteers
to read the

What do you think lacks in the

relationship of Bata and Anpu, and
Anpu and his wife?

Student 15
(Students present their work)

In sibling relationship or even in

any kinds of relationship,
communication is the key for you to
understand each other. You wouldn't
know the answer if you don't know
the problem at all. Never do things
that you will just regret in the end.

Any questions or clarifications

about the story?

4. Application

object or a symbol that best describe the
story. After 10 minutes, you are going to
