Introductory Message

Welcome to TVL 12 – ICT (Computer System Servicing)!

The Learning Activity Sheet is a product of the collaborative efforts of the

Schools Division of San Carlos City and DepEd Regional Office VI - Western Visayas
through the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD). This is
developed to guide the learning facilitators (teachers, parents and responsible adults)
in helping the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Basic Education
Curriculum.

The Learning Activity Sheet is self-directed instructional materials aimed to

guide the learners in accomplishing activities at their own pace and time using the
contextualized resources in the community. This will also assist the learners in
acquiring the lifelong learning skills, knowledge and attitudes for productivity and
employment.

For learning facilitator:

The TVL 12 – ICT (Computer System Servicing) Activity Sheet will help you
facilitate the teaching-learning activities specified in each Most Essential Learning
Competency (MELC) with minimal or no face-to-face encounter between you and
learner. This will be made available to the learners with the references/links to ease
the independent learning.

For the learner:

The TVL 12 – ICT (Computer System Servicing) Activity Sheet is developed

to help you continue learning even if you are not in school. This learning material
provides you with meaningful and engaging activities for independent learning. Being
an active learner, carefully read and understand the instructions then perform the
activities and answer the assessments. This will be returned to your facilitator on the
agreed schedule

As a computer teacher, you must be aware of how your students behave when
they are working in the computer laboratory, as well as implementing a safe way of
accomplishing every task. Safety practices should be learned early and always
adhered to when working with any electrical device, including personal computers and
peripherals. This is for the protection of the devices and the people working with them.
The basis for this process begins with your Occupational Health and Safety Policies.

4
PERSONAL SAFETY WHILE WORKING ALONG WITH PC’S

Computer equipment can be dangerous, and you or others can be injured or

even killed if you do not follow proper safety guidelines when working along PC’s. The
following are some precautionary measures to take before working with any computer
equipment:

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY (OHS) PROCEDURES

(When assembling computer hardware)

1. Do not work alone so that there is someone who can take care of you in case
of an emergency.
2. Always power off the computer and unplug the computer after working on it.
3. Take away any liquid near your working area to avoid getting electrocuted or
accidentally damaging computer parts.
4. Be careful with tools that may cause a short circuit.
5. Always ground or discharge yourself before touching any part of the computer.
6. Do not use excessive force if things don’t quite slip into place.
7. Clean the area before and after using it to maintain sanitation and prevent
accidents.
8. Hold the components on the edges and do not touch the Integrated Circuit (IC)
parts.
9. Always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with the
organization’s OHS procedures and practices.
10. Make sure that the pins are properly aligned when connecting a cable
connector.
11. Contingency measures during workplace accidents, fire, and other
emergencies are recognized.
12. Use a brush, compressed air, or blower in cleaning the computer system.

Always remember that your safety is a top priority when working with computers
or any electronic gadgets. Always remember that we are required by law to provide a
