Thesis statement: Men and women are totally different in shopping behavior in term of
nature, preference, and time.

Introduction

i. General statements:
 “East is East, West is West, and never the twain shall meet.” This quote that written
by Rudyard Kipling is enough to show that no people in this world are same.
 Men and women can never be the same even though they are born together in this
world.
 Nowadays, men and women are as different as moon and the sun as well as their
shopping habits in their daily life.
 Shopping is the driver of the nation’s economy and it is an affirmation of faith in our
country.
 Shopping has contributed about a quarter percent of our country’s economy and
keeps increasing days by days in order to achieve the title of great country in 2020
which has been implemented by our former prime minister, Tun Dr Mahathir
Mohamad.

 Men and women are totally different in shopping behavior in term of nature,
preference, and time.

iv. Topic sentence: The first difference between men and women in shopping behavior is
nature which is according to the way of shopping.
v. Supporting sentences (Subject A):
 In general, men think that shopping is very boring and not pleasurable at all.
 In fact, they think that shopping is a waste of time and probably the last thing that
they want to do in their daily life.
 Men usually shopping online, because it is easier and can be done while doing other
things such as hangout with their friend.
 Men hate crowded places, which explain why they rarely go shopping at the
shopping complex especially when there is a sale going on.
 When they go shopping, it will only for a short period and they have to buy
something important.

 Women spend their leisure time by shopping.
 Hangout with their friends will be incomplete if they do not wandering around
shopping complex.
 Women do not mind visiting the same shopping complex for several times in order
for them to get the best things that they want to buy.
 Their lush are influenced by the word ‘sale’.
 It is one of the event that they are always waiting for as they can buy everything
they want without worry about overspending money and which can also lead them
to buy more.
vii. Concluding sentence: Hence, nature in terms of the way of shopping is one of the
differences between men and women in shopping behavior.

iv. Topic sentence: The second difference between men and women in shopping behavior is
preference which is according to things that they buy.
v. Supporting sentences (Subject A):
 In general, men only go shopping if there is something that is important to buy.
 The things that they buy are very specific. For instance, if they need shoes, then they
will only buy shoes.
 They do not care about the price, as if they want to buy it, they will pay without
even consider to search that things on the other store.
 Buying thing is like a mission to them, so they will be straight forward in buying
those things.
 This explain the fact that they rarely influence by the suggestion from the salesman
or salesgirl to try other things.

 Women go shopping when they have leisure time.
 Women are control by their lush during shopping and often end up buying things
that are not on their shopping list.
 For example, they go shopping to buy some cloth, but after seeing beautiful
handbags, they end up buying it.
 Their mind are always interrupted by others opinion, which explain why they
always overspend money by buying more things that is not needed.
vii. Concluding sentence: Therefore, preference in terms of things that they buy is one of the
differences between men and women in shopping behavior.

iv. Topic sentence: The third difference between men and women in shopping behavior is
time which is according to time spent for shopping.
v. Supporting sentences (Subject A):
 Men are usually spend a short time for shopping because they usually shopping just
for achieving their goals and missions.
 They want to finish the shopping as early as possible so that they can do anything
else on that day; not just trapped in the shopping complex all the time.
 Furthermore, they do not bring friend when shopping because they do not want to
take too many opinions of friends because it will take time and delay them.
 For example, men are reluctant store shoppers because if they intend to buy a
specific item, they will get in and out from the shop quickly.
vi. Supporting sentences (Subject B):
 In contrast to men, women are usually spend a long time for shopping because they
usually shopping just for having enjoyment and excitement.
 They will bring along as many girlfriends as possible to help them choosing the
colors, quality, and how it fits on them.
 Women usually do not only shop, but they have many agendas that need to be
completed at that same time such as watching movies and eating fast foods.
 Unlike men, women are very passive at shopping because they cannot select a thing
quickly because they want to get satisfaction from their friends’ opinions too.
vii. Concluding sentence: So, time in term of time spent for the shopping is one of the
differences between men and women in shopping behavior.
Conclusion
i. Restatement of thesis statement: In conclusion, men and women are totally different in
shopping behavior in term of time, preference, and nature.
ii. Points for conclusion:
 Men and women are clearly different from their behavior of shopping.
 It is the law of nature that men and women live in this world are different from each
other.
 If not, there is no variety in life as all the human are the same.
 Although they are different in the shopping behavior, they need to know how to
austerity in shopping.
 Before planning to shop, make a list on what to buy as this can help them a lot on
saving their money.
 The people that involve in this shopping business have tricks to attract the shopper
easily, so do not easily fall in their trap.
