FOR A BETTER COMMUNITY: SCRIPT

Ladies and gentlemen!
“ Do unto others as you would have them do unto you " has always
been a fundamental tradition that passed through generations in our
country. It was even more valued when the year of 2020 witnessed a
series of catastrophes which included, first the COVID-19 pademic, and
more noticeable, the unprecedented floods lasting for a record-breaking
time in the Central Vietnam.
Hà Linh:
In that period of time, when the rains and floods almost dominated in
the Central Vietnam, people there had to suffer countless losses. As a
result, people became more and more worried and frightened whenever
they heard the news of a comming up flood. Being a member of HCM
Communist Youth Union, I have always been wondering what should i
do to minimize the intense pain of my fellows, and to be the pioneer in
lending a hand to the needy. And, accompany with the Youth of Dong
Ha High School, we have decided to put our little efforts in the
volunteer work in Huong Phung, Huong Hoa

It was in In October, 2020 that a great number of ceaseless torrential rains
took place in the Central Vietnam, where Quang Tri is located. People at
that time had to live in severe weather condition. This flooding season
was considered to be the most serious in the past years, which caused
extensive damage to our country. Fatalities, economic losses were the
things that resulted from this disaster. The scene of the husband holding
his dead pregnant wife in the middle of flooding water, The death of 22
soldiers in Huong Phung, Huong Hoa district, Thousands of buildings
drowning in the flood and so on has truly brought a tear to our eyes.
People living in the Central Vietnam in general and Quang Tri in
particular indeed had to suffer too much!

Despite such hardships, it was so moving and heartwarming that other
parts in our country paid full attention to the Central Vietnam. Everyone,
no matter who they was, all joined hands to lend their precious helping
hands to help people in Central Vietnam tackle and surmount the
consequences. Witnessing the constant convoy of relief trucks all heading
to the affected area with a slogan: “Towards Central Vietnam”, in my
heart arised an indescribable feeling. Regardless of the harsh conditions
at that time, which was full of torrential rains and catastrophic floods,
every attempt was made and finally, the aids was able to make it to the
needy. Not being able to hind his puriest feeling, Nguyen Huu Thang, a
poetry living in Vinh Linh, Quang Tri has wrote a poem named: "Nhặt
lên từ bùn (Which means "Pick up from the mud"). The part of the poem
that I am going to tell you is cited from his work:
"Nhặt lên từ bùn chiếc áo sơ sinh
Người mẹ trẻ lật thuyền ngày trở dạ
Chiếc cặp sách bám bùn tơi tả
Trang vở nát nhàu nét chữ vẹo xiêu."
Which means:
"Pick up from the mud, infant clothing
The boat capsized drowning the mom with her unborn baby

Guys! We have to hurry up otherwise we won't be able to load these 500
pairs of Banh Chung to Huong Phung.

The fire is set, guys! Ah! So warm and pleasing! Tomorrow, these Banh
Chuong will be given out to people in Huong Phung. Just thinking about
that makes me feel so peaceful and happy!

All the Banh Chung is well-cooked, guys! We have to load them onto the
truck to hand them to people in Huong Phung as soon as possible. Hurry
up, hurry up! We must hurry up because everyone there is waiting for us!

It's alright, dear! The floods are gone. The sky has been back to be blue
again. Tomorrow will be OK. The school will open again and be ready to
welcome us. After all, we will be able to see our friends, teachers again
and focus on our studying like the old days.

These new books and notebooks are for you. You have to keep it
carefully as they are the precious gifts from the sponsors. And, you have
to promise me to study well as well as behave obediently to your parents
and teachers, alright?
