Proposed research topic: Should IBD students (should narrow or I’ll think this is for
students all over the world) Wwork Ppart-time Dduring the Sschool Yyear ? (spelling)

Background:

Millions of teenagers across the country work part-time jobs and attend university
simultaneously. Many of them pull it off quite well. They work an adequate number of hours
which allows them to maintain good grades while finding a personal source income. Other
students have some troubles in balancing the two responsibilities. In most situations, the
part-time job becomes too much to handle, and grades begin slipping. Many people argue
that responsible students will have no problem in balancing a job and school. Whereas
several opponents of the issue say that a part-time job occupies time that should be spent
on homework, studies, extra-curricular activities, and so on. The question of whether or not
this is a good thing for a young person’s life is constantly controversial. (Source??)

Rationale:

Regarding students, we often think of work education, which is our main task. Moreover, one
of great expectation that all parents have for their children is to graduate school with flying
colors. Thus, to achieve this, students must concentrate and focus all their attention to their
studies. Nevertheless, more and more students nowadays want to do something besides
studying by working a part-time job. As far as we are concerned, the learning environment at
universities and college are completely different with social environment. Here students have
more chance to acquire experience and no longer under financial control of the family.
Therefore, I (we) decide to conduct a poll about student’s points of view with part-time job.

What about social problem?  GAP???

Purposes:

The overall aim of this study has been to increase and widen our standing of part-time job
during the school year among students. This problem, which I noticed when I study here, is
happening with IBD students. This has given me the idea of conducting a study on the part-
time job trend. In this paper, I will investigate the part-time job affair of IBD students at NEU.
In particular, it focus on:

 Reason
 Effects
 Solution to balance studying and part-time job
 Research questions??

Scope:
In this paper, it is difficult to mention a large number of IBD students. Therefore, it
concentrates on researching a small part of them. Because of limited time, my main objet of
study is whom I communicate every day and gather as much as possible their view and
attitude.

Research questions:

With its aim suggested above, the study raises three research questions:

1. Why do IBD students involve getin part-time job?

2. What are the some effects of part-time job to IBD students?
3. How can we IBD students manage our time between part-time job and work-study?
(Though there are too many RQs, I accept them!)

Research method:

In order to collect data, I (we) used both primary data and secondary data. For the primary
data, 100 questionnaires which includes 11 survey questions were distributed to 100 IBD
students. We will do a survey because… Then, the data were classified, synthesized and
more detail about the statistics can be analyzed clearly in final report.

Besides that, I also used a quite great document stored on Internet such as
http://www.studentsforum.co.uk/, http://www.teenagecancertrust.org, http://www.student-
part-time-jobs.com/ .... Because part-time job is an affair shared by social community and a
growing trend, so the consulting of specialists is so important. At last, I also come up with
more information, brainstorming is always necessary to complete a perfect study.

Purposes/ what are you going to get after doing these methods?
