RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS

This chapter presents, analyzes and interprets gathered data of the study.

Status of (VAW) cases in Barangay San Salvador Luisiana, Laguna

Specific problem number one focused on the status of vaw cases in Barangay

San Salvador, Luisiana, Laguna.

Figure 3 presents the statistic on the crimes committed by the Protocol in


handling of Violence Against Women (VAW) cases in Barangay San Salvador
Luisiana, Laguna

As presented in figure 3, it shows that the VAW crimes in Barangay San

Salvador Luisiana, Laguna.

The said barangay recorded Twelve (12) VAW cases in 2019, Nine (9) VAW

cases in 2020, and only six (6) VAW cases in 2021. Generally, there is an decreasing

number of VAW cases in Barangay San Salvador Luisiana, Laguna.

Level of implementation of the protocol in the handling of Violence

Against Women (VAW) cases in Barangay San Salvador, Luisiana, Laguna as

perceived by the two groups of respondents in terms of Service procedure and

protocols; and Referral System and Linkages

Specific problem number two focused on the level of implementation of the

protocol in the handling of Violence Against Women (VAW) cases as perceived of

the groups of respondents in terms of Service procedure and protocols, and Referral

System and Linkages in Barangay. San Salvador Luisiana, Laguna as perceived by the

two groups of respondents.

Table 2 reveals the level of implementation of the protocol in the handling of

Violence Against Women (VAW) cases in terms of Service procedure and protocols

as perceived by the Survivors of VAW/Resident.

Table 2 reveals that indicator 6 got the highest mean while indicator 3 got the

lowest mean.

The protocol in the handling of Violence Against Women (VAW) cases in

terms of Service procedure and protocols were implemented as rated by Survivor of

VAW/Resident

The findings are supported by Hayati, wherein he stated that local services

agency has the low priority it was given by the authorities, mirrored also in low

involvement in the daily service by the assigned volunteers

Table 2 disclosed that indicator 1 got the highest mean while indicator 3 got the

terms of Referral System and Linkages were implemented as rated by Survivor of

VAW/Resident

The findings are supported by the study of WHO stated that Although they

primarily operate as acute treatment centres, FSCs also create a referral pathway

between child protection officers, crisis accommodation providers, police, district

courts and the Office of Public Prosecution, enabling a multisector response.

Table 3 reveals the summary level of implementation of the protocol in the

Table 4 reveals that the protocol in the handling of Violence Against Women

(VAW) cases along the specified variables was rated by the Survivors of

VAW/Resident as the first group of respondents as implemented.

The results are supported by the study (Garcia Moreno at al 2005

Pinheiro,2006)The issue is compounded by the fact that are women and children the

perpetrators are often people they know and because some countries lack laws or regulations

protecting victims.

Table 5 reveals the level of Implementation of the protocol in the handling of

Violence Against Women (VAW) cases in terms of Service procedure and protocols

as perceived by the Barangay VAW personnel.

got the lowest mean.

The findings are supported by (Riger et al 1981) Even though women are less

frequently the victims of violent crime that men and women fear crime Federal

Bureau of Investigation and this fear appears to be largely based on their fear of rape

The findings are supported by the study of Cornelia Rada (2014) Domestic

violence is a public health problem with negative consequences.

Table 7 reveals that the protocol in the handling of Violence Against Women

Personnel as the second group of respondents as much implemented

Table 8 reveals the significant difference on the Level of the Implementation

of the protocol in the handling of violence against women (VAW) cases as perceived

of the (2) two groups of respondents in Barangay San Salvador Luisiana, Laguna

The t-test was used to determine whether there is a significant difference on

the level of the Implementation of the protocol in the handling of violence against

women (VAW) cases as perceived of the (2) two groups of respondents . In terms of

Service Procedure and Protocols, the computed critical value of 2.10 and was

interpreted as ‘not significant’. On the other hand, in terms of service procedure and

protocols, it had a mean difference of 0.60 with a critical value of 2.10 and was

interpreted as ‘not significant’. On the other hand in terms of referral system and

linkages, the computed critical value of 2.14, it had mean difference of 0.74 with

critical value 2.14‘not significant’.

The findings would mean that the two groups of respondents do not have the

same perception in terms of the variables.

Challenges faced by the respondent regarding the protocol in the


handling of Violence Against Women (VAW) cases in Barangay San Salvador
Luisiana, Laguna.

Specific problem number four pertains to the issues and concerns encountered

by the two (2) groups of respondents in the performance of their duties and

responsibilities.

The following are the combined challenges faced by the respondents regarding the
protocol in the handling of Violence Against Women (VAW) cases in Barangay San
Salvador Luisiana, Laguna.

1. Intensify the implementation of RA No. 9262 to protect women and


defenseless through the initiative of barangay officials,

2. The Barangay-level women empowerment orientations and seminars to teach


women their rights and protection guaranteed by the Anti-VAW Law to
prevent abuses and other forms of violence against women

3. Support the efforts of the Barangay VAW Desk Officer in the experience of
his authority to issue Barangay Protection Order as immediate relief to women
who reported incidence of violence against them.

4. The LGU in coordination with the Women Desk Police Personnel may assist
the victims through referral to psychologist for counseling or caring centers or
agency for temporary shelters to recover from trauma suffered by the victims.
