Scientific Material Summary

Maintenance is discovering faults, diagnosing them, then repairing them or replacing

them, then making sure that the repair is complete with all available means to confirm
the quality of repair and calibration on the available quality measures if possible.
Procedure to implement maintenance:

1- Determining the machines and devices to be maintained:

This is done by identifying and listing all components of the facility and knowing all
the important information necessary to identify the component of each unit that
requires maintenance.

2- Make sure to provide all the factory catalogs:

The machine factory usually creates catalogs for standard operation and maintenance
operations and standard spare parts and providing these catalogs for all components
for which maintenance is required is one of the most important things that should not
be overlooked in applying maintenance operations.
Either in the absence of the supplier or factory catalogs, the following steps should be
followed:
Addressing the supplier or manufacturer to obtain the necessary catalogs.
Visiting any similar factory and trying to obtain a maintenance plan for similar
machines and equipment. Maintenance experts are employed in the factory or
outside it.

4- Making a maintenance plan:

After listing all maintenance required for all plant components and determining the
types of maintenance that will be applied, a future plan for maintenance operations
(weekly - monthly - yearly) is set in which the different maintenance dates for each
machine are specified.

5- Monitoring the implementation of the plan:

Monitoring the implementation of the plan is one of the most important elements that
ensure the progress of the maintenance process inside the factory in a good manner
 according to the plan previously set. Three steps can be implemented well to ensure
the quality of the monitoring process

1 -Determine the differences between what has been defined in the maintenance plan
and what has already been accomplished, and this is done by issuing a monthly report
on all the achievements of maintenance work and comparing them with the work laid
out in the plan in advance.
2 -Defining and analyzing the causes of the difference and studying them by the
maintenance officials and knowing their causes such as the negligence of the
maintenance team, a shortage of labor, a shortage of tools or even a lack of spare
parts
3- Taking corrective measures in that, and once the maintenance officials know the
reasons for the differences, recommendations and corrective actions can be submitted
to all the different departments that have a relationship with the matter in the facility
to contribute to the end of these reasons or not to occur after that.
