Design of Hydropower Station in Wadi Mawr

A final year project Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the award of the
degree of Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics Engineering

The project evaluates the feasibility for producing hydropower energy

from existing dam.
It contains the designs of the hydraulic turbine and the electrical system
along with the control that is to be installed on a dam with head of 140
m and flow of 5 m3/s.
The mechanical and hydraulic design is to be illustrated and designed to
satisfy energy demand in the region for local farmers and residents. The
results from the study are to be analyzed and simulated using software
environments to validate the design.

PROJECT OUTCOMES
1. design and specification of hydraulic system of the turbine
2. CAD design for the system
3. results of a CFD analysis for the critical parts of the turbine
4. control model for the guide vane and load
