Projects Simulation studies of NCRTC-IRCON (Delhi-Meerut corridor)

• Worked on the traction simulation studies of NCRTC (Delhi-Meerut corridor) network
using ETRAX. ETRAX is a module in ETAP software used for doing the Traction
studies. Modelled the 82 km track with all parameters such as elevations,
bends/curves, speed limits, platforms, etc. along the corridor. Performed the AC
Traction studies following the EN50163 standard.
• Prepared the single line diagrams with substations at 220 kV, 66kV, 33 kV, 25 kV,
0.415 kV.
• Performed the HV MV Load flow study of the NCRTC Auxiliary network (33 kV), short
circuit study, Harmonic analysis, power factor correction study, Resonance studies of
the NCRTC network.
• Started working on my second project which is Traction simulation studies of WMATA
(Washington Metro).
Experience Power System analysis and design
• Have the experience in modelling the IEEE type Exciters such as AC7B, Type2, etc.
and Governors using UDM module of ETAP software.
• Modelled the custom libraries for cables, fuse, Train Rolling stock, warehouse, etc. in
ETAP software.
• Performed the HV MV Load flow study.
• Worked on the short circuit following IEC 60909 standard.
• Performed the Harmonic Analysis according to IEEE 519.
• Analyzed the Dynamic Motor starting and Transient Analysis using ETAP.

Projects MODEL PREDICTIVE CONTROL OF PLUG-IN HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLES FOR
FREQUENCY REGULATION IN A SMART GRID
Integration between energy storage systems and renewable energy sources can
effectively smooth natural fluctuations of the latter and ensure better frequency
regulation. Optimal performance of the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle battery, having
longer plug-in than driving time, makes it a good candidate for integration with RES's.
Model predictive control and PSO tuned PID are proposed here for frequency
regulation in an interconnected power system comprising plug-in hybrid electric
vehicles. The parameters of PID controller and Model Predictive Control are tuned by
evolutionary algorithms such as Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm to get the
desired frequency regulation.
DESIGN AND ANALYSIS OF CLASS-E RESONANT INVERTER
The considerable switching losses in PWM control can be minimized if the switching
devices are turned ON and OFF when the voltage or current across a device become
zero. The voltage and current are forced to pass through zero crossing by creating an
LC-resonant circuit, thereby called resonant pulse converters. Project deals with the
design of Class-E resonant inverter using simulation and a prototype. Class-E design
has a single switching device. Therefore, has low switching losses yielding high
efficiency.
VARIABLE SPEED DRIVES IN STACKER or RECLAIMER
Project deals with the speed control of Induction motor. It is a type of adjustable-speed
drive used in electro-mechanical drive systems to control AC motor speed and torque
by varying motor input frequency and voltage.
