Lectures
The University opened to continuing students on 1st March 2021 with
commencement of lectures for a period of three weeks and thereafter sitting of
end of Semester II examinations. Management notes and is concerned that you
may have missed a few lectures due to absence of some lecturers because they
are on strike. I wish to inform you that there are negotiations going on between
the aggrieved lecturers and the Government to ensure that their issues are
resolved. In the meantime, I encourage you to continue revising your notes and
attending to your course works because you will be sitting for your end of
semester II examinations on Monday 22nd March to Sunday, 11th April 2021.
The University adopted the Open Distance Electronic Learning (ODeL) method
to ensure that teaching and learning takes place with minimal physical human
interaction. Your Lecturers have been equipped with the necessary skills to
conduct the online teaching. The ODeL method of teaching requires availability
of internet and the use of gadgets such as smart phone, tablet, laptop or
personal computer to access lecturers and lecture materials. The University
has increased the wireless internet coverage at campus to ease access of
students with the necessary gadgets to the internet. Students who do not have
smart phones, tablets and laptops are encouraged to use the available
computers in the computer laboratories or better still purchase the necessary
gadget to avoid inconveniences. Please use the available internet for
educational purposes.
Provision of meals
The University had already paid the government sponsored students’ necessary
allowances to cater for their accommodation and meals before its closure in
March 2020. I wish to inform you that the University will not pay any
allowances to government sponsored students to cater for their meals during
this period. You will be paid such allowances in the next Academic Year which
is scheduled to begin on Saturday, 10th April 2021
Conclusion.
I wish to remind you that COVID-19 is deadly and each one of you is at risk of
contracting it. We can stay safe and prevent the spread of COVID-19 if we take
the necessary precautions by strictly adhering to the guidelines issued by the
Ministry of Health. These include; observing the SOPs (maintaining social
distance, regularly washing or sanitizing your hands and correctly wearing
your facemasks).
I wish you good health and success in your examinations. May God bless you.
