Description
This course builds on the concepts and techniques learned in DRFT 1293 and DRFT 1294 to
enable the students to detail representative components of a complex steel structure that
includes sloping structural members. This course is part of the full-time Architectural
Technician, Civil/Structural Technician, Steel Detailing Technician Certificate Programs.

1. Create geometry layout drawings of bracing systems that show bevels, clearances and key
dimensions
2. Demonstrate the essential requirements of braced connections
3. Develop column and beam connections at bracing node points
4. Develop connections of stairs to primary steel members
5. Create shop fabrication drawings of brace members
6. Create shop fabrication drawings of steel stair assemblies

Instructional Strategies
This course utilizes lectures, handouts, on-screen presentations, group discussion and
problem solving, and design teams. The majority of the course duration is reserved for
student drawing output.
