2014, there are 44 million internet users in the Philippines. It is the data presented by the PNP
Anti Cybercrime Group to showcase the total average of Filipino who are using the internet. In
addition to the data gathered, Filipino users, spending 18.6 hours per week or almost 2.6 hours
per day through the internet. With many internet users in the Philippines, there’s no wonder how
Filipino people are becoming prone as a victim of cybercrime. In fact, the infographic shows the
increasing percentage of Filipino complaints related to cybercrime. his information is extremely
troubling due to the ever-increasing number of victims

Cybercrime is the use of computers as an instrument for further illegal activities such as
fraud, human trafficking, stealing identity, and violating the privacy of an individual. It is
commonly used by hackers to be able to have a profit in exchange for the important details you
have stored in your network devices such as computers, smartphones, and cloud storage. The
authorities until now experienced difficulties in catching what they called “HACKERS” because
of a lack of evidence. According to the report of GMA news, there are 366 victims of online
scams. It is a kind of internet fraud wherein the perpetrator develops a scheme as bait for the
victims which intention is to steal properties, estates, assets by a false representation of
him/herself by providing misleading information or by concealment information. Secondly is the
online libel with 240 complaints. Online libel is a kind of cybercrime that is under Article 353 of
the Revised Penal Code. Online libel is defined as public and malicious imputation of a crime, or
of a vice or defect, real or imaginary, or any act, omission, condition, status, or circumstance
tending to cause the dishonor, and committed through a computer system or any other similar
means which may be devised in the future. The third is an online threat which is the intention to
theft or unlawful use of personal information, threat, extortion, harassment, and disclosure of
privacy-related matters

The Internet has become a more dependent component for many Filipino. The students,
governments, teachers, and professionals depend on the internet. The infographics intended for
us to become aware of our movement while using the internet. The increasing number of victims
warn us to be more careful in choosing the people who can trust. We should not disregard this
matter instead spread this information to save a life. Always think before your click which means

that what is uploaded remains in the public domain forever and maybe abused to harm the person
