ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

PURPOSE

The purpose of this assignment is to assess whether the learners clearly understand the
various categories of terms governing employment contracts. It also aims at enhancing
learners’ critical thinking ability in evaluating whether those terms are complied with
the current laws and meet the needs of the employees.

REQUIREMENT

Rights and duties of employers and employees form part of terms of contracts of employment.
The employment laws through legislation and subsidiary legislations have set a minimum
standard of terms that must be strictly observed by employers. However, there are still some
aspects of employment that have not been incorporated into the existing laws but need to be
considered by the legislature in future so that the employees’ needs are fully addressed.

Select ONE private organisation where you have access to the information. Identify pecuniary
and non-pecuniary terms of employment contract that incorporate into different forms of
employment available in the selected organisation. Evaluate the extent to which both
categories of terms have complied with the current employment laws and the needs of

employees in the context of the recent employment environment. Recommend some
amendment of existing laws regarding both pecuniary terms and non-pecuniary terms.
