Abstract
To my final Year Project, I have selected Coconut Tree Climbing Machine this report going
forward according to that process. By this project I hope to introduce machine for climbing coconut
trees because in present type of traditional climbing methods was very dangerous for people
because of we can find many injuries and some of dead seen also. Not only that in present the
coconut cultivators face for a huge problem to find coconut tree climbers and their prices also very
high in day by day for this occur I propose this with easy, safe and economical for the tree climbers
and also for the normal person. I hope to introduce two methods for this climbing style (Sitting
Method and Stand up Method) for user facilities. Before making this hope to do Solid Work
analysis for define is there structure failure.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I would like to express our appreciation to all those who provided us the possibility to make the project
successful. First and foremost, I thank DE MONTFORT University and SKILL COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY
Campus for granting the opportunity to study the undergraduate program.

Also I would like to offer my sincere gratitude to the supervising lecturers. Mr.Abheetha Saluwadana
and Mr.Suneth whose help, stimulating suggestions & encouragement, helped me to coordinate this
project and report. I am very grateful to him for his guidance, support, motivation, and immense
knowledge given to me continue this project.

I thank all my colleagues for the stimulating discussions, help and support given to me in order to
continue my project.

Besides them, I would like to thank our parents for their unsparing co-ordination and the financial
support. Once again I am thankful to everyone for guiding us to achieve success.

INTRODUCTION

Sri Lanka is the 4th largest coconut supplier in the world (4% of world market) Coconut accounts
for approximately 12% of all agricultural produce in Sri Lanka with the total land area under
cultivation covering 409, 244 hectares (2017) and about 2,500 -3000 million nuts produced per
year (by 2017). New measures have been introduced to enhance the annual coconut crop to 3600
million nuts per year (according to EDB report 2017). For achieve that goal coconut tree climbers
were give a huge support with traditional manual method and getting a high risk of them life and
also in present the count of tree climbers were down of many reasons. Because of those problem
coconut state owners were facing many problems

1. Cost rate of tree climbers is high

2. Low count of tree climbers
3. Safety problem of tree climbers
4. Healthy problems of tree climbers

For avoid those problems the coconut tree climbing machine can help. After complete my project
I can introduce new machine with safety, low cost and effective machine for society and it will
help for more comfortable for state owners and coconut tree climbers.

5
AIM AND OBJECTIVES

 Save lives with high standard safety equipment.

 Produce Low cost budgeting equipment.
 Make equipment for anyone can handle.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

In order to address the project rigorously I went through some scholarly sources that provided an
overview of the selected area. Generally, they concerned following circumstances regarding the
research study.

In kurunegala area coconut tree climbers charge Rs.150 for one tree for cover that charge coconut
tree owner should sell more than three coconut nuts so if when we use for this machine we can
deduct that total price for coconut trees.

When we talk about our total cost of this we can manage it lower than 4000/= rupees. In market
this type of machine can get over than 5000/= rupees.

This machine consisting with box bars for get weight of climber and rubber material we use to get
high grip for climbing tree and also hope to use rope for as make a safety. There are two linear
bars with holes for adjust support grip bars and also down side angled vertical support bar for the
stable and safety. In down platform there is foot track for hold foot.

PROGRESS THUS FAR

 Selected two types of climbing methods.

 Selected material for one machine.
 Auto cad drawing complete.
 Parts of machine was sketched by Solid Works (not done simulating and analyzing).
 Find about more methods in practice for climbing.
 Discuss problems of facing coconut tree climbers.
 Discuss problems of facing coconut famers and states owners.

CONCLUSION

The coconut tree climbing machine design is very important in present situation because of in
present the rate of tree climbers low because of that job is very risky and dangerous job in
society I try to make this job to easy and more comfortable for coconut tree climbers and normal
coconut farmers and state owners. This can help for those three society and their problems very
easy.

We can manage the main purpose of that we are highlight specially safety, economically and
high efficiency for the coconut industry not for the country all over the world. Also providing
and after introduce this machine this can help for normally to house economy.
