Parents were also involved in the construction of vegetable gardens on the school

grounds while adhering to social distancing measures and implementing precautionary

measures in accordance with IATF health regulations and Department of Health protection
protocols. “Gulayan sa Tahanan” was also fostered among the students as a result of the
pandemic. They would have to grow their own vegetable garden at home with the support
of their parents to keep the Gulayan sa Paaralan goal sustainable throughout this
pandemic.
Gulayan sa Paaralan Program is one of the partnership activities of Brigada
Eskwela 2021 which aims to promote adequate nutrition and minimize hunger
among learners. Specifically, to encourage the growing of vegetables on the
school grounds and to instill in the learners and stakeholders the principles of
gardening, good health and nutrition, and helping others.
Each grade level (Kinder, Grades 1-6, and SPED) has a designated area
for planting and propagating vegetables and was given the option of planting a
different vegetable in their pots. May it be sweet potato tops, horseradish, squash,
water spinach, and more.
