and disbelief, and so out of their arrogance, they killed the camel that Allah
had sent them!
﴾‫﴿فم مدم مد مم معلمي ِهم مرُّّبُم بِ مذنبِ ِهم فم مس َّو ماها‬
“So their lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it

A long time ago, there lived a boy in Yemen who believed in Allah alone.
However, the king of that time was a disbeliever, so he ordered his soldiers to
kill the believing boy, but to the king’s astonishment, they couldn’t!
The believing boy said to the king, that if he wishes to kill him, he should take
his arrow and say: “In the name of Allah, the God of this boy!” and shoot it at
the boy. The king did as the boy instructed and he was able to kill the boy.
The people who were assembled to witness this event, saw the power of the
boy’s Lord and immediately became believers in Allah.
This angered the king, so he ordered a ditch to be dug and a fire to be lit inside
it. He then ordered his soldiers to throw the believers into the ditch. Allah’s
punishment awaits the king on the Day of Judgement.

Fir’awn was the ruler of Egypt and he was a disbeliever who had enslaved the
children of Israeel. He used to say: ﴾‫“ ﴿أم مَن مربُّ ُك ُم اۡلمعلمى‬I am your greatest God!”
Under his harsh rule, the children of Israeel were being killed, so Allah sent to
him His prophet Musa (pbuh). Fir’awn summoned his magicians to defeat
Musa (pbuh) and his brother Prophet Harun (pbuh), but their magic was an
illusion to make people believe that their staffs were moving like snakes!
Allah inspired Musa (pbuh) to throw his own staff down, which turned into a
big snake, and it ate up all the small snakes! Seeing this, the magicians got
scared and immediately prostrated to Allah.

25
But Fir’awn increased in his disbelief and disobedience. He began to prepare
an army to kill Prophet Musa and all those who believed in him. Musa (pbuh)
and the children of Israeel immediately fled, and when they reached the sea
they were trapped with nowhere to go! Then Allah inspired His Prophet to
strike the sea with his staff, and the sea parted into twelve, with each portion
like a great towering mountain! Musa (pbuh) and his people crossed to the
other side and were saved, although Fir’awn, along with his soldiers, drowned
as they tried to cross the sea to follow Prophet Musa.

Qur’anic
Stories 13.5 The Owners of the Garden

The following story is mentioned in Surah Al-Qalam, Chapter 68 of the

Glorious Qur’an.
There once lived a wealthy and pious man who had a huge garden with trees
full of fruits. Each time the fruits were picked, the poor would come to the
pious man and he would distribute the fruits among them.
This man had many sons who were not as pious as himself. When their father
died, they discussed a plan to not distribute some of the fruits among the poor
people.
One of the sons had a concern. What will they tell the poor people when they
gather the next time to receive the fruits? To avoid giving the poor their share,
one of them suggested removing all the fruits in the night and thus clearing
the garden before dawn so that nobody could come and ask for his share!
Everyone agreed to this suggestion. These brothers were not afraid that Allah

33
was watching and listening to everything, so they forgot to say “Insha-Allah”,
meaning “if Allah Wills”.
They went to sleep that night, satisfied with their plan. Early next morning,
all of them woke up and hurried to the garden. When they reached the
garden, they saw that it was blackened! They could not believe their eyes and
said this was not their garden, but when they saw there was no other way
around, they were wonderstruck! Soon they realized what had happened,
and yelled: “Verily, we have gone astray!” “Nay! Indeed, we are deprived of
(the fruits)!” The best among them said: “Did I not say to you ‘Why not
glorify (Allah)’?” He had been advising them earlier against this act of
mischief, for he had said it is only Allah who would bless their fruits if they
continued to give away some of them in charity!
All of them felt regretful over their misdeed. They turned to one another in
reproach and said: “Glory be to our Lord! Verily we have been doing wrong.
Alas for us! We have indeed transgressed!”
