Diversity defined as a positive component, contributes to progress and productivity. It is important that we recognize and accept
diversity. This means accepting, respecting, and tolerating each other’s differences. It means awareness of laws, and systems
that uphold one’s individuality and uniqueness.

However, in the case of Manuel, I think he experienced discrimination and stereotyping due to the fact of having disability or
mental retardation, his parents ignored or neglect his condition instead of sending him for therapy or habilitation to maximize
his function skills or improving his functional stability. Manuel’s family experiencing stereotyping because of rumors that the
people expected to believe as a whole, moral/religious beliefs are based on their beliefs that the people having this disability
supposed to believe that these people are from mythical creatures and they are different from the normal people and being
neglected to have a proper treatment and inclusive education.

In the other hand, Julian’s experience is different from Manuel’s experience. Julian’s family allow him to have an inclusive
education which is acknowledging him as person with disability and has a right to education regardless of his conditions or
even his status in the society. To improve his condition, he undergo habilitation and therapies with regards to his condition
which is mental retardation or intellectual disability. He received proper treatment and habilitation with the help also of inclusive
education who appreciate persons who has special needs and accepting these peoples’ differences. Julian received the
treatment of the called individual model, considering his level of deficiency compared to normal persons’ state. This notion
denotes that those normal persons are superior than people who has disability. Despite of his condition, he was able to
maximize his function skills with the help of kind-hearted people his skills and abilities was being noticed and appreciated as he
began to develop himself.
