Semester 1 2021/2022 Academic Session

 All students are required to submit assignments on the stipulated due

date. Failure to do so (without strong justification) will lead the students to
be penalized.

 Assignments should be handed directly to the respective lecturer via

online platform.

 Please keep a group diary to record meetings, including what is discussed

and decided upon at a meeting, and also the contributions of each student
in the group to the assignment.

 Please use APA format for citations or quatations for all

assignments.

Late assignments will be penalised 20% for each day they are late or will
not be accepted. Remember that there will be no make-up assignments.

Assignment 1: Approaching Growing Company (20%) (Group)

Students are required to identify one company which is operated more than 3
years (growing). Students are encouraged to conduct an interview (via online
platform) with the founder/owner of the company (entrepreneur).

Based on the interview, please answer the following questions:

1. Provide the profile of the company. Students are required to write on the
background of the company together with the growth characteristics.
Justify why that company it is at the growth level.
2. Students need to explain whether this company is an adaptive firm or not.
Why?

All group members should involve in the data collection (interview) process.
Students are encouraged to conduct interview online

Assignment 2: Managing a growing business (25%)

Select a company of your choice or based on the selected company in

Assignment 1. The main part for this assignment is to identify the issues,
challenges faced by the company. Other than that, students need to recommend
the solution to the company to grow and to sustain in the industry by applying the
strategies that have been learnt in class. The assignment will be examined the
following:

i) Introduction
ii) Issues and Challenges/ Darksides of growth firm.
- elaborate all challenges/problem that the company faced.
-Solutions to the problem are needed in order to help the company to
grow and sustain in the industry.
-Conduct SWOT analysis of the company.
-Students are advised to suggest the appropriate strategies (based on
theories that have been learnt in the class) that should be used to help
the company to sustain in the industry.
iii) Conclusion - conclusion and comments.
iv) Appendix – bulletin, newspaper, photos, annual report etc (if any).

Group Video Presentation (15%)

Students (same group) are required to produce a 3-minutes video on

issues/problems and solution/strategies that have been suggested in assignment
2. Students are advised to give one copy of the video to the respective company
as part of the contribution to society. The assessment of the video will be
evaluated based on the creativity and innovation of the video.

This assignment is to be submitted on before 12th January 2021 (Wednesday)

before 12.00 midnight. Late assignment will be penalized.
