COURSE DESCRIPTION
In the globalization era, most managers and executives face a challenge of international business,
in which the influence of culture is inevitable. This subject discusses the way of managing cultures
professionally. Rather than perceiving cultural differences as threats to be overcome, this subject
challenges participants to enjoy the richness of cultural differences to result in a synergy.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
This subject will provide students with:
 an understanding of the role of culture in international business.
 an ability to identify and to benefit the impact of culture on management and business.
 an ability to analyze and to synergize cultures to result in high corporate performance.

LEARNING GOALS
In addition to the course objectives listed above, students are expected to develop the following
learning goals by the end of the course:

1. Transformational Leadership
Each student should be able to create an inspiring vision and motivate people to deliver the
vision

Each student should be able to make solutions in a complex business situation

GROUP ASSIGNMENTS

Seminar
Each group should analyze an actual case in a multinational company related to a cross-cultural
problem. The format of the case analysis is as follows:
 Introduction
 The company background
 Problem Identification
 Theoretical Analysis : use relevant concepts to analyze the case.
 Conclusion
 Recommendation
 References

This paper has to be submitted at latest on 2nd April, 2015

Paper requirement:
Paper for seminar should not be more than 15 pages, with Arial 11 font and 1½ spacing. The
paper should be presented by the group in the seminar session for about 45 minutes and followed
by questions and answers.

EVALUATION POLICY

 Examination : 60%
 Seminar : 25%
 Assignment/Exercise/Participation/Presentation : 15%

Participation is evaluated based on class contributions, quizzes and attendance.
