In the name of Allah, the most merciful, the most beneficent

All praises (belong) to Allah alone, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the world. He is the
first, He is the last, He is the hidden, and He knows about everything. He brings the
night into the day and brings the day into the night, and he knows the thoughts of
hearts (Al-Quran).

The trembling lips and wet eyes praise the greatest man of the Universe, the last
messenger of ALLLAH, HAZRAT MUHAMMAD (PBUH), whom ALLAH has
sent as mercy for worlds, the illuminating torch, the blessing for the literate, illiterate,
rich, poor, powerful, weaker, and able and disable. Whose life and sayings are ultimate
source of guidance and way of "NIJAT" for the mankind, who enlightened our
conscious with the essence of faith on ALLAH, merging all His kindness and mercy
upon us.

The work presented was accomplished under the sympathetic attitude, animate
directions, observant pursuit, and scholarly criticism, cheering perspective and
enlightened Supervision of Dr.Shamim Akhtar and Dr.Muhammad Kashif. Their
thorough analysis and rigorous encouragement (critique) improved not only the quality
of this dissertation, but also my overall understanding of this work. I am grateful to
their ever-inspiring guidance, keen interest, scholarly comments and constructive
suggestions throughout the course of my studies. I am also thankful to my Driver Uncle
Javed and Uncle Mudassar and friends especially for their selfless assistance and
cooperation during the whole journey for this project. I have no words that fully convey

Pakistan has been one of the principle places for attraction in geological studies since 1851. This
report talks about some geological importance of Salt Range Hazara Area and Margalla Hills and
their formations.
