DEAR PRINCIPAL,
For the past five years I have been attending university and studying
Bachelor of Primary Education online on a part time basis. I have worked
at Murringo Public School in the Early Stage 1 up to Stage 3 in multi-stage
classrooms as a School Learning Support Officer and closely supported a
student with autism, in particular. My classroom experiences at Murringo,
Weetangera, Rye Park Public Schools and recently at Mornington Public
047869XXX School in Victoria, has only heightened my interest and my enthusiasm to
persue a supportive role in any community. I also was recently working
with a young adult with special needs on weekends to help and

the same age group. It was a very challenging job but one that we both
XXX Military Road, gained so much from and we still meet up from time to time.

I have really enjoyed working in schools over the last six years and also volunteering at our
local school with scripture, presentation nights, event preparations and assemblies. I am very
skilled in child minding and have a great sense of need that children require whilst in my care.
I love to teach children different skills and spending time in their company.
Referees
Meg Galvin worked as an aide in my classroom (at Mornington Primary School) on a part-time basis from
February to September of 2019. Meg was employed to work with an intellectually disabled student in out of
home care who was new to the school. This student arrived at school speaking very little and was very reticent
to engage with adults. Meg was able to develop a positive relationship with this student very quickly and he was
talking and engaging with her in no time. Meg showed genuine care for this student and was invested in
providing a supportive environment for him in the classroom.
Following a daily plan when working one on one with an intellectually disabled student. This involved
engaging the student in gross and fine motor activities, teaching him basic personal care (handwashing,
taking off and putting on clothing and shoes), and basic speech and language development.
Implementing a literacy support program called MiniLit with a small group of students. This involved
following a prescriptive literacy program, keeping records of the student’s work and progress, and
communicating this with me.
