How to be a “Decora”
Decora is a Japanese fashion style also known as "Dekora" or "Decorer”. Decora people are wearing bright
colors, wild hair clips and bows, and tons of layering and accessories. The accessories include plastic toys and
jewelry, which click together and make noise as the wearer moves. The style is sometimes mistakenly called
"Fruits-style" by people not from Japan. This style is mainly used by woman but also there are more and more
men that are using it.
Girls are wearing colorful clothes and different types of hair accessories like pins, bows, alligator pins,
headbands and on their clothes they are using buttons and toys. Make up is so important too and must be in
bright colors. Girls can wear black clothes, but just if the accessories complement the look.
People in Japan are saying that girls that wear this kind of style didn’t have infancy, but it is clear that they just
are trying to find their own identity, just like any adolescent or teenager in the world. It seems that the fact that
young people belong to an urban tribe makes them feel more comfortable with themselves.
Are you thinking that you want to be a Decora? So try some of these tips to get the Decora look:
1. Only colorful clothes are allowed. Girls are not wearing black.
3. Make up. Girls are using bright colors mainly on their eyes.
5. Be yourself, this is the gold rule and you will not fail.
2. Answer the following questions according to the reading and your own opinion:

b. Is there any other Urban Tribe similar to Decora one? Which one? ______________________________________
