PHYSICAL SCIENCE (WEEK 6)

PERFORMANCE TASK

WHAT’S NEW:
ACTIVITY 1.1. SPOON IN AND SPOON OUT

CONCAVE CONVEX
- The inside of the spoon is concave - The outside of the spoon is convex
because I see my reflection of myself because when I looked at spoon I see
when I kept away myself from the spoon. myself farther away in the spoon.

ACTIVITY 1.2. LOOKING THROUGH RED CELLOPHANE

GUIDE QUESTIONS:

1. What is the color of the white parts of the paper? Why do you think so?

- White color objects reflect any color light. Black color objects absorb

any color light. Because the white piece of paper appear white in white light red in
red light blue in blue light and so on for all  colors.

2. Can you see the red dots on the paper? Why do you think so?

- The red dots cannot be seen because they are reflecting the same wavelength of
light that is being transmitted onto them.

3. Can you see the green dots on the paper? Why do you think so?

- The white area looks like it has a green dot in the center.
WRITTEN WORK

WHAT I CAN DO:

Guide Questions:

1. Why do you think Nick’s text message was not delivered?

-The message was not sent because of the radio waves were not absorbed and it
bounced off the items.

2. What other factors may have caused delays in delivering text messages?

-The other factors that may be caused delays in delivering text messages are the
signal, radio waves, network traffic, or phone problems.

3. What do you think is the role of the telecommunications company in the delivery of
the information?

-The role of the telecommunications company is to deliver the information and to

inform the person that sent the text message that their message was not sent to the
receiver due to technical difficulties.

4. Radio waves are widely used in communications industry. Aside from mobile phones
that use radio waves to carry signals, list down at least five other uses of radio waves to
communicate and deliver information.

a. Broadcast radio
b. Television
c. Navigation
d. Air conditioner
e. Remote-controlled toys
B. Using your own words, describe how Heinrich Hertz produced radio pulses or waves.

Heinrich Rudolf Hertz was a German physicist who first conclusively proved the
existence of the electromagnetic waves theorized by James Clerk Maxwell's
electromagnetic theory of light. The unit of frequency was named "hertz" in his honor.
As Heinrich Hertz was already experimenting to prove Maxwell’s theory, he hoped that
his electrical apparatus would transmit electromagnetic waves. When J ames Clerk
Maxwell showed theoretically that electromagnetic radiation, Hertz inspired to Maxwell
so Hertz designed a brilliant set of experiment to test Maxwell's hypothesis. He used an
oscillator made of polished brass knobs, each connected to an induction coil separated
by a tiny gap over which sparks could leap and create a radio pulses.
