PHYSICAL SCIENCE (WEEK 8)

WRITTEN WORK
WHAT I CAN DO

You may be asking why we need to study about relativity. What is its importance in
our daily life? Or why do we have to be aware about this concept? For this activity,
you are going to cite three examples on how relativity is applied and what is its use.
An example is given for you.

Ex: GPS (Global Positioning System)

Use in tracking location and position.

1. Nuclear Power

- Nuclear power process heat and non-stationary power reactors have essential uses across
multiple sectors, including consumer products, food and agriculture, industry, medicine and
scientific research, transport, and water resources and the environment.

2. Electricity

- People use electricity for lighting, heating, cooling, and refrigeration and for operating
appliances, computers, electronics, machinery, and public transportation systems.

3. Appliances

- Used for assist in household functions such as cooking, cleaning and food preservation.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

I. Complete the concept map below by filling out the boxes with answers in relation
to the

concept at the center.

General Theory of Relativity

What is it?

- General Theory of Relativity was formulated by Albert Einstein in 1915 when he

found out that mass causes space to curve and space causes mass to move.

Examples:

 Behavior of objects
 Black hole existence
 Light bending
 Behavior of planet

Non-examples:

 Time delay
 Singularities

What is it like?

- The basic idea is that instead of being an invisible force that attracts objects to one
another, gravity is a curving or warping of space. The more massive an object, the more it warps
the space around it.

Activity 1.5

Eyes and ears are two of the most important parts of a human body. These serve as
the soul of an individual, but these may also be the root of some evil. Some people
used to criticize one person with his/her physical appearance. Some are fond of
making false spoken statement which causes damage to a person's reputation. This
situation happens especially in any social media platforms. Below is a verse from
the Bible. Write your insight about this verse.

2 Corinthians 12:20 NIV

“For I am afraid that when I come, I may not find you as I want you to be, and you
may not find me as you want me to be. I fear that there may be discord, jealousy, fits
of rage, selfish ambition, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder.

ANSWER:

Jesus is talking about the rapture. Jesus is afraid that He might find those whom he calls happy in
this world. That’s why he is giving us time to change and repent and return to Him. The reason
why he is not returning is because the people he called are not ready yet.

Guide Questions :

1. How did you find the activity?

- I find the activity fun and creative because I only get to use our available to do it by used
things in our home without buying it.

2. What did you observe between the time at two different distances?

- I noticed that there is a slightly delay on the transmission of the messages.

3. How does the sound from a distance reach from one area to another?

- It’s a little vague.

After doing the experiment, create a poem on how speed and distances of far
objects are estimated.
POEM

are like things that can change

whether how speed are like
