Introduction (15 minutes): The students will start by getting their IPads out and I will

transition into this lesson. I will then explain the grouping and then go ahead and group the
students.

Teacher Directed (10 minutes): Once the groups are in place, I will talk about the items
that have been given to each group area. There are baskets with different foods. They will watch
the YouTube video and then chose the items that are healthy choices in the baskets. I will give
each student a healthy snack.

Collaborative (15 minutes): In this section they will watch a PBS.YouTube video. I will
provide a handout that has different life choices. The groups will work together choosing the
better choice. Each group will practice one exercise that they learned in a previous lesson to do at
Closure. We will also talk about social distancing and what we have learned from going through
the Covid-19 pandemic.

Independent Digital (15 minutes): At this section, they will work on My Plate Maze
Puzzle on the iPad.

Closure (20-minutes): At the end of the lesson the students will play a game on Kahoot
and each group will have a chance to talk about what they have learned. Each group will
demonstrate the exercise that they have chosen from a previous lesson that will help them stay
healthy.

Rationale:
Making Healthy Choices (YouTube)
This YouTube video talks about all different life choices that affect kids. It talks about a little
more that this lesson but I think it is a great video that can help introduce another lesson on
making the right choices. This video will easily get the kids motivated to start talk and discuss
the lesson.
PBS Learn Healthy Habits: Social Distancing
This video is age appropriate and talks a little further about choices. Since the Covid-19
Pandemic kids have had to learn social distancing for their health. I think the students will be
able to relate to this video. Video is free.
