UNCLEAR RESPONSIBILITY

Unclear and conflicting job roles cause stress and tension, leaving employees


feeling demotivated and devalued. Ambiguity kills performance. ... A lack of clear roles can
create an ineffective working environment. Employees can often feel they can leave a job as
they are not solely responsible.

Poorly defined or conflicted roles in a person's job can be a stressor for workers. Poor
role definition arises from a lack of clarity in workers' objectives, key accountabilities, their
co-workers' expectations of them, and the overall scope or responsibilities of their job. 

When the expectations of two or more roles are incompatible, role conflict exists. For
example, a supervisor at a factory may feel strain due to his or her role as friend and
mentor to the subordinate employees, while having to exhibit a stern and professional
watchful eye over the employees.

ACTUAL EXPERIENCE RELATING TO THIS PROBLEM


UNCLEAR AND CONFLICTING RESPONSIBILITIES OR JOB?
One of good example mostly happened in the workplace, sometimes our superior or COP
just utter the words “ALAMS NA, YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO” without giving clear
instructions on what to do, and when lapses occur on the operation, he will put the blame on
the operatives.

IN RESPONSE TO THIS CONFLICT

  In the PNP organizational structure which describes and provides guidance to the
personnel. The key is that everyone is aware of what they are, as individuals are
responsible for and accountable for. Sometimes due to lack of personnel; some were
multi-tasking. Thus, causes burden and tension of personnel since hitting the target of the
deadlines is quite stressful. To deal with this, a counseling and Squad Weekly Interactive
Meeting (SWIM) by religious sector. It is best practice that every police station or police
office create a grievance committee to address this matter to settle this within their
level.

           As the Officer working with men/and women of the organization in comes with these
issues, must openly communicate during meetings of personnel. It is important that roles
and responsibilities are clear within your team and this should be the top priority.
Unclear job roles keep you wondering what you are responsible for and what the role you are
performing for. By giving personnel clear roles that play to their individual strengths.

These tips will help you stay positive and show initiative to stay focused and
remain productive under a boss who sets unclear or frequently changes expectations.
