5W1H is a term that is common in the world of journalism, but not only in the

world of journalism, In every writing of information whether it's in the news


text or whatever. The element 5w1h is used to guarantee that an information
can be conveyed properly.

Then, what is 5w1h? what is the understanding and explanation of each part?
What is an example of applying 5w + 1h to a story? In this moment we will give a

5W1H is used to understand the essence of a news or also to determine a news


item. A news can be said to be good if it can answer the elements contained in
5W + 1H.
The elements in 5W1H itself include:

• Why
• How

abbreviation ADIKSIMBA is known, which is short for “What is When When
Who is Why?
5W1H is generally used to develop a good story idea, news, fiction and any story.
The use of the 5W1H element makes the written news or story has a clear flow
and core.
The 5W1H elements consisting of what, where, when, who, why and how can be
understood by reading the following details:

1. What
What or what is the first element that must exist in a writing. Because, a
writing must have a theme or core story to be conveyed.
This element will answer the question about what is happening. This element of
what will encourage the writer to collect as much facts as possible related to
the events that occur.
For example what elements can be used to create questions in writing news as
follows:
What: What event is happening? What is the impact? did it cause harm? What
do people think about the plague? etc.
 
2. Who
Knowing a news or story will not be complete if it does not know who is involved
in it. The who element in 5W1H facilitates you to provide information about the
people involved in the story that you write.
In addition to the main actors in the story, it is also important to explain the
actors or other people who helped support the story.
For example, in a story mentioned that there was a Covid 19 or Corona virus
plague in Wuhan, China. Then the who in the news element will describe the
residents of Wuhan, China, who are reported to be victims and people who have
a testimony to the truth of the story

3. When
Events that are told in a story or story need to be accompanied by a clear
description of the time. This is useful to provide accurate information on events
that occur
For example, the news that a Covid 19 or Corona disease plague in Wuhan, China
would be more useful if the reader knows when the incident occurred. This can
also be useful if the time information written in a story can help the truth
enforcer in investigating the plague.

4. Where
A clear story will describe the scene of an event. Because, all events must have
the location of the scene. This is to support the reader in understanding the
plot along with a clear description of the place of an event.

the writer needs to write down the location of the incident where the victim
was killed specifically.
 
5. Why
An event must occur not without reason. Therefore the author is obliged to put
the why in his writing to explain the cause of an event.
For example, Wuhan citizens were reported killed by a Covid 19 or corona
viruse in china, the writer also needs to explain why the incident could occur. So
that readers can easily understand the situation and conditions of the event
that is happening.

6. How
How or how, this element requires the writer to describe how the process of
the event. The use of this how element will help the reader understand the
story line and can support the statement of the why element that has been
described previously.
For example for the same news, the element of how will explain how the corona
virus process can spread and how the virus can kill humans.
