 CONTEMPORARY LEADER:
What is leadership exactly? Based on Cambridge Dictionary, leadership means
the persons or people in chare of an organization (Cambridge). Leadership does also
refer to the ability of leading people towards success. For sure it one of important
aspects of life. For example, to start a group, organization, company or a country, you
need a really good leader to lead you. Everyone can be a leader but not everyone
bravely enough to lead. Besides, not everyone has the right quality to be one. A
success leadership requires specific characteristic. “Before you are a leader, success
is all about growing yourself become a leader, success is all about growing others.”
(Jack Welch). This is perspective idea in a great leader. I have chosen Jacinda
Ardern as one example who has a good leadership style.
As we know, Jacinda Ardern Kate Laurell Ardern or known as Jacinda Ardern
is the Prime Minister of New Zealand. She became Prime Minister at the age of 37
int October 2017 until now. She breaks the record for being the country youngest
prime minister in more than 150 years. She does have a great leadership quality that
have helped her to make New Zealand a better place to stay.
A success leadership must be built on the power of leadership. Leaders have
personal attractiveness, an atmosphere of trust, and belief in the goal of attracting and
retaining follower. People who followed her because their feelings told them to about
it. Subordinates have a positive attraction to these persons. Identify leaders and
leader. This skill actually will be very useful for subordinates understand and
appreciate the leader so that they understand the leader’s expectations and act
accordingly.
When you have the knowledge on how to lead and special technique that been
used can also be important to make the job done. A person’s technical prowess and
trust is also growing. Jacinda can encourage people to trust her and people start to
trust her by seeing how capable she is and how amazing character she has. Jacinda
Ardern has a good character which are she has strong mind set; she won’t let
difficulty drag her down. Besides that, she is a very charismatic optimism and a
humble person. She manages to attract all the women and younger generation
because the felt inspired by her leadership. She is the prove when people say “less
talk, more actions”, she always does the things she says to ensure her people is happy.
She also has a great discipline and also, she cares about her people. For example, she

 made into top 10 best leadership in the world. I really do respect her and trust that she
has her own strategies to get this far.
Furthermore, to be an effective leader, he or she should have goo qualities and
skills. Certain people are born to have certain personality characteristic, skills that
make them such a great leader. For example, most people would see their appearance
first because first impression is always important. Next, we took a look at their
character around people. A leader should have a good self-esteem, general
intelligence. These qualities indicate the reliability of a leader in organizing or
formulating plans to achieve goals and objectives. A good leader for sure going to be
inspiration for other. A leader should portrays an good example for other to follow
and inspired them to also be a great person. No matter how hard things will be, as a
leader we should never easily to be break, we just need to kept on moving forward
and stronger. Are we show our weakness in leadership to people, how can they feel
motivate by seeing a failure?
Jacinda Ardern has a such great qualities for instant like drive. The fullment
of her existence indicates many first-rate award and achievement which she has
became an inspiration to people. In 2021, Jacinda Ardern has won the first place in
World’s Greatest Leaders. She deserved the award because she successfully managed
to handle COVID-19 in her country while other country is still struggling. Besides
that, Jacinda Ardern stands for human right. She treats all people equally; she
inspired a lot of women and young generation. She treats all people equally. “All the
things left to achieve gender equality are at the top of my list” (Jacinda Ardern, 2018).
Aside from that, the focus on leadership conduct is critical in determining
good and effective leadership. The focus of leadership behaviour is on what effective
leaders do rather than who they are. It determines the efficacy of a leader based on
two orientations task orientations and relational orientation. Setting goals is an
example of task orientation.
This type of behaviour may be seen in Jacinda Ardern’s drafting of strategy to
develop country to be a better place. She makes sure that the entire people understand
what she is actually leading and teach people with knowledge and experience she
gained before. She established the objective and goal, as well as the harmony that she
desires for her country.

 Relationship orientation is defined as behaviour that demonstrate empathy for
other’s concerns and feelings, as well as being supportive of other needs, displaying
trust and another similar characteristic. This act is critical for leader to demonstrate
concern and earn trust. In 2019, there were Mosque attack in Greater Christchurch,
the incident breaks the news and became the main attention, Jacinda decide to take
action and not wanting this matter repeat again so she called for changes to New
Zealand’s gun laws, a statement that appeared to must with board approval in a
country where gun ownership was widespread.
Finally, good leadership is critical for development of people, organizations,
societies and so on. In such a true approach, effective leadership can produce good
attributes of outcomes. In the eyes of the world, many role models and well-known
modern leaders have demonstrated the effectiveness of good leadership. Jacinda
Ardern is an example of good leader who has led by example in her life, she has
demonstrated an effective leadership approach. It makes no difference who the leader
is as long as the possess the skills and understand the genuine paths to being a
successful leader and managing people, the outcomes will be positive and higher
quality.
