REVIEW CHAPTER 1

Example 1.
Given a square ABCD with side a and center O. Determine and calculate the length of
OA  OB  OC  OD .

Ví dụ 1. Cho hình vuông ABCD cạnh a, tâm O. Hãy xác định và tính độ dài của
OA  OB  OC  OD

Solution (Lời giải)

We have OA  OB  OC  OD

 (OA  OC )  (OB  OD)  0  DB  DB

Thus, OA  OB  OC  OD  BD  a 2

EXERCISE

Exercise 1) Let three forces F1  MA, F2  MB and F 3  MC act on an object at point M, the
object is at rest. Assume that the magnitudes of F1 , F2 are both 100N and AMB  600 . Find the
magnitude and direction of the force F3 ?
Exercise 2) A lamp is attached to the wall by a string AB. To keep the lights away from the wall,
people use a horizontal strut, one end leaning against the wall, the other end leaning against point
B of the wire as shown in the figure. Assume that the lamp weighs 4 (kg) and the wire is attached
to the wall at an angle 300 . Calculate the tension in the string and the reaction of the rod. Given
the reaction force of the bar has a direction along the bar and g 10m / s 2 .
Exercise 3. Let ABC be a triangle. Given P, Q such that PA  2 PB and 3QA  2QC  0 .

a) Analysis the vector PQ according to two vectors AB and AC .

b) Prove PQ through the centroid of triangle ABC.
EXERCISE (COORDINATE SYSTEM)
Example 1. In the 𝑂𝑥𝑦 plane, given A(1;1), B (0;3) and C (2; 0) . Find the coordinate of the point

M so that AM  2 BC

Ví dụ 1. Trong mp Oxy, cho A(1;1), B (0;3) và C (2; 0) . Tìm tọa độ điểm M sao cho AM  2 BC .
Solution
Given M ( x; y ) ,

We have BC  (2; 3) , AM  ( x  1; y  1)

x 1  4
AM  BC  
 y  1  6
x  3

 y  5
Thus, M  3;  5  .

Example 2. In the 𝑂𝑥𝑦 plane, given A(15;100) and M ( x; 40) with x  R . Find the coordinates of
the point 𝐼 so that three points O, I, A are collinear.

Ví dụ 2. Trong mp Oxy, cho A(15;100) và M ( x; 40) với x  R . Tìm tọa độ điểm 𝐼 để 3 điểm O,
I, A thẳng hàng.
Solution
Given I ( x; 40) . We have AI  ( x  15; 60) ; OA  (14;100)

A, B, I are collinear ⇔ AI and OA are parallel

x  15 60
   x6
15 100
Thus 𝐼(6; 40).

Bản dịch

Gọi I ( x; 40) .Ta có AI  ( x  15; 60) ; OA  (14;100) .

x  15 60
Ba điểm A, B, I thẳng hàng  AI và OA cùng phương    x 6.
15 100

Vậy I (6; 40)
