EDUC 205: Educational Administration and Supervision

Professor: Dr. Christina Doria

What is Educational Administration?

Administration is regarded as the process of integrating the appropriate human and

material resources that are made available and made effective for achieving the purposes of a
programme of an educational institution.

What is Educational Supervision?

Educational Supervision means an all out effort of the school officials directed towards
providing leadership to teachers and other educational workers for the improvement of the
institution. It involves both human and material elements. The human elements are the pupils,
parents, teachers and other employees, the community and other officials of the state.

My insights about the overview of the Educational Administration and Supervision

Across the years our educational system has been rocked by controversies which have
remained unabated up to this day. Amidst the welter of issues, two of them have managed to
stand out in importance: quality and relevance. The major difficulty in education in the
Philippines is the short-sighted policy of sacrificing the quality and quantity of education for
economic reasons. The educational system must have the best and quality of education by having
a strong administration and supervision from the lower level of service up to the higher level of
service.

If we are striving for a good product for every student, teachers, staff and the future of the
community and the country, I think the best way to start an action is to have a good mindset and
competent leaders and managers to handle the current situation and for the future in our
Educational system. As a future school head, I need to know and internalize the major role of
being a leader. Leaders that must possess characteristics to enhance the progress, functionality,
and to improve the quality of education that will bring to the society a well- developed system.

The differences between the administration and supervision are that the administration,
the leader must have a plan for school programs and activities, directing school work and
formulating and executing educational policies, coordinating administrative and supervisory
activities, providing the necessary leadership, evaluating the teaching personnel and school
program, and keeping records and reporting results. While the supervision in education must
have the values and skills to improve the Teaching Learning Situation, providing leadership ,
development of goal, improving human relations, improving group interaction, the outcome of
education, improving supervision, improving morale of teachers, development of motivation, and
problem solving. The process of integrating the appropriate human and material resources that
are made available and made effective for achieving the purposes of a programme of an
educational institution is called the educational administration. Using the materials to come up
with an evident - based outcome should be prioritized by a school head and the authoritarian that
make and support the institution. Leaders must also have a strong vision for the good and
betterment of its institution, not only to make a good output but it has flourished a process that
surpasses all the obstacles, the ups and downs of all the system. The leaders that can help the
institution become happy and competent to bring the best out of every student by the guidance
of the teachers, the head teachers helped by the school leaders.

The future of the young people, the community and our country lies also for the good
administration and supervision of leaders and authoritarianism. Our current situation, the
Pandemic, will help us to become more critical thinkers, resourceful, and creative on how to
make sure that all the necessary things that must be gotten and done by students are being
manifested by the strong leaders that have strong vision and the willpower to do so.
