1) Shall This word is used to indicate mandatory requirements strictly to be followed

in order to conform to the standard and from which no deviation is permitted.
2) Should This word is used to indicate that among several possibilities one is
recommended as particularly suitable, without mentioning or excluding
others; or that a certain course of action is preferred but not necessarily
required.
3) May This word is used to indicate a course of action permissible within the limits
of the standard.

given, Generator Engineering shall be involved.

2 Form, fit and function requirements

Dimensioning is governed by the appropriate Generator and foundation outline drawing (MLI
A1B0 / B7G0). This specification describes the general outline conditions only.

2.1 Nature of the foundation

A differentiation is made between a steel and a concrete foundation. The foundation loading
data (standstill, operation and short-circuit) are given in Generator foundation loads plan (MLI
A1B1 / A1B3). The foundation constructor will build the foundation on the basis of this data,
taking into account the latest developments in turboset foundation design.

2.2 Foundation requirements for anchoring system

2.2.1 Description
The system consists of a long, pre-tensioned anchor, which his hold by a nut inside an anchor
box assembly. The anchor box assembly is embedded in the foundation. The assembly consists
of a pressure-plate, which itself transmits the anchor loads to the foundation. The anchor is
surrounded by a sleeve, which is connected to the pressure-plate. The entire assembly is seal-
welded. The nut shall be locked against rotation in the anchor box. The length of the anchor box
shall be designed to lower the anchor bolt below top of concrete level for generator installation.

2.2.2 Division of responsibility and scope of supply

Generator specifies the required dimensions for the anchor box system from a generator
perspective. The foundation designer is responsible for determining the appropriate material
and the capacity of the foundation to resist the applicable loads.
Every part (refer to Figure 2 and Figure 4) is in the scope of the generator except the anchor
box assemblies (items 1, 2, 3, 4) and foundation plate (item 5). Foundation anchor bolts (item 7)
for generator, bearing pedestals (if exist), brush gear (if exist) and grout (item 6) can be supplied
on request by Generator, as per contractual requirements.

2.2.3 Material requirements

Bottom nut for the anchor bolt shall be supplied by the foundation designer. Material shall be
the following:
• 42CrMo5 1.7225 EN 10083-1, 91-02+A1, 96-08
• Minimum Yield Strength: 735MPa
• Tensile Strength: 900-1050MPa
• Elongation: Min 12%
2019-12-18 EN Approved
Lng. Status

Material for the anchor box and supports shall provide sufficient strength for the design
requirements. The material should as a minimum be EN 10025 S235 JR or equivalent.

2.2.4 Installation of embedded parts

The arrangement of the foundation anchors is given by Generator and foundation outline
D

drawing (MLI A1B0 / B7G0).

The anchor box systems shall be installed in the foundation before concrete placement. This
system allows the site to install the anchor bolts shortly before the installation of the Generator
instead of at the time of foundation construction.
9470 HTGG610357
Dept. Document No.

Before positioning of anchor boxes in the defined location, a dimensional check shall be
performed to verify that the dimensions correspond with the design documents. The vertical
alignment of the anchor boxes is critical to generator installation. The tube and box shall be
aligned to provide a 90-degree angle with a tolerance of +/- 0.2 degrees:

Figure 5. Vertical alignment requirement of foundation anchor

Anchor boxes shall be positioned in the foundation prior to concrete placement. The anchor
boxes and other embedment’s shall be adequately braced prior to the concrete placement to
meet the location requirements specified below. During the concrete placement, care should be
taken to avoid entrapping air under the embedment. Entrapped air shall be removed by
mechanical means as necessary.
Before concrete placement, the anchor box locations shall be surveyed and recorded in the X,
Y, and Z directions.
Before concrete placement, the straightness of the anchor box shall be measured and recorded.
The generator embedment’s, including anchor boxes, shall located according to the locations on
the drawings.
