NOTICE
Machine Damage Resulting from a Violent Shock
Rough treatment of the machine FMB130/150 prior to installation could result in cracking of
the machine casing in a more or less evident manner. If such a machine is installed, even
the presence of tiny cracks could eventually result in structural damage to the machine in
the course of normal operation.
As a precaution, if a machine is known to have sustained a severe blow or hard fall, it must
not be installed even if damage is not apparent. Replace the stricken machine with a new
one instead.
To avoid any damage, keep the parts and components in the original packaging for as long
as possible before installation. In particular, if the brakes are protected by plastic foil, leave
the foil in place until the very beginning of the electrical installation.
Refer to the system manual, K 609801, for details about:
Building Requirements
Electrical Requirements
Installed Components.
The machine is delivered with a protective plastic foil covering the grooved running
surface of the traction pulleys to keep off any sort of contamination (dirt, etc.) from the
grooves.
The protective plastic foil must not be removed until the very beginning of the installation of
the STMs.
Moving and lifting the machine requires considering the machine weight and the use of
suitable lifting gear.

3 * Mechanical Installation
Installation There are two methods in use for the installation of the machine in the hoistway head:
Methods Zone EU uses the machine installation tool on the car roof.
Zones AP, LA, EMIA and NA use the hoist and scaffold method.
The machine fixation on the machine support is identical for all zones.

3.3 Fixation of the Machine
Consider the following information before putting the machine down on the machine
support:
The machine is fastened to the machine support with three bolts (1, 2 and 3) as shown
below.
Once the machine rests on the machine support, it would be difficult or even impossible
to insert the machine bolt (3) on the car side owing to a conflict in space with the car rail
head. It is therefore necessary to insert that bolt before putting the machine down on the
machine support.
Machine Fixation
315 On the car side of the machine, insert in the respective hole of the machine
support in the given order:
A large diameter damping pad with washer (9)
A small diameter damping pad with washer (7)
From above, a long guiding tube (10)
A M12x60 bolt (3).
Make sure that the large diameter damping pad (9) is on top.

316 Position the machine just above the machine support and align the machine bolt
holes with the machine support holes.
Do not yet lower the machine onto the machine support.
317 On the wall side of the machine, insert in the respective hole of the machine
support:
A large diameter damping pad with washer (9)
A small diameter damping pad with washer (7)
From above, a long guiding tube (10)
From below, a M12x60 bolt (1).
Make sure that the large diameter damping pad (9) is on top.
318 At the fan end of the machine, insert in the respective hole of the machine
support:
From below, a small diameter damping pad with washer (7)
From above, a short guiding tube (8)
From above, a small diameter damping pad with washer (7)
A M12x100 bolt (2).
319 Loosely screw a M12 hexagon flange nut (6) onto the bolt (2).
320 Loosely screw a M12 hexagon locking flange nut (5) onto the bolt (2).
321 Lower the machine so that it rests on the machine support.
322 Fasten the machine to the machine support bracket provisionally with the three
bolts (1, 2 and 3) bearing in mind that some alignment work will have to follow.
EU Installations only:
323 Remove the clamping set from the machine and lower the car enough for the
machine installation tool to be pivoted clear of the machine.
324 Lower the car onto the buffers and - on the side of the machine installation tool -
untie the hoisting rope and remove the car hoisting eye bolt.
325 Dismount the machine installation tool and put it out of the way.
326 Re-insert the previously removed car hoisting eye bolt and re-attach the hoisting
rope.
327 Lift the car back up the hoistway for the final alignment and leveling of the
machine.

NOTICE
Machine Alignment and Leveling
Running a machine which is not properly aligned and leveled has a negative effect on the
behavior of the STMs and could result in damage to the installation.
Align and level the machine according to the instructions.
Alignment and
Leveling 328 Loosen the M12x60 bolts (1 and 3) as well as the M12 nut (6) sufficiently so that
the machine can be aligned.
329 Align the machine in such a way that it stands at a right angle to the plane of the
car rails.
330 Tighten the M12x60 bolts (1 and 3) securely.
331 Loosen the M12 locking nut (5) and adjust the M12x100 bolt (2) using the
integrated spirit level (4) until the machine is level.
332 Tighten the M12 locking nut (5) when the machine is level.
333 Tighten the M12 nut (6) securely.
334 Using the provided holes in the machine support, secure with a safety wire (7):

5 Adjustments and Final Check
Adjustments and
No Step
Final Checks
500 Check that the machine is secure and the safety wire is in place on both bolts
located towards the machine end with the brake.
501 Check that the machine is level and aligned at a right angle to the plane of the
car rails.
This alignment and leveling of the machine is very important for correct
STM behavior.
502 Check that all cabling and wiring is securely terminated and clear from moving
mechanical parts.
503 Check that all connectors are securely located.
504 Check that all cabling and wiring insulation is free of damage.
505 Check that all groundings have been established according to the figure “Wiring
and Grounding Overview” at the beginning of the chapter “Electrical Installation”.
506 Check the central bearing for leaking grease. Carefully wipe off any traces of
leaking grease with a clean dry cloth.
When cleaning, be careful not to contaminate the traction sheave with grease.
It is no longer required to remove the STM retainers after completing the acceptance tests.
