1 Safety Advice
CAUTION
The safety warning with the signal word “Caution” - in combination with the safety alert
symbol - is used to indicate a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in minor
or moderate injury.
NOTICE
The safety warning with the signal word “Notice” is used to address practices that could
result in property damage but not in injury.

2 Prerequisite
Building
Topic Figure Description
Hoistway - If required by the construction, there must be
a concrete base below the buffers.
Electrical
Component Figure Description
Lighting - There must be sufficient lighting, to ensure
working safely in the hoistway.
Mains - For the tools needed, for example electrical
Connection drill.
Installed
Components Component Figure Description
Guide Rails The first two rounds of guide rails must be
installed, as after the OLEO buffer installation
there will not be enough room in the hoistway
for the guide rail installation.
Special Tools
Tool Figure Description
Drill Bit - Size Required for drilling the holes for the buffer
fixation on the hoistway floor.

3 Preparation
LSB Series, MLB13.1 ... MLB32.1 and SEB buffers might be filled with oil at delivery.
MLB35.3 ... MLB40.3 and LB buffers are not filled with oil at delivery.
The oil is delivered separately.
Checking
No Step
Delivery
300 Compare the type plate of the buffer with the attached parts list.
301 Check that:
All packaging is intact.
The shipment is complete. See paragraph "Material Overview" below.
In case of incomplete shipment or damaged packaging, send a quality claim form
to the KG forwarder.
Material Overview
Material Description
LSB, MLB, SEB Buffer Individually packed in collapsible cardboard box.
LB Buffer Delivered in a wooden crate. The operating plunger is at a low
tension setting.
Electrical Kit It includes the pre-assembled switch-cable-connector unit
complete with switch fixing parts. The switch is already set.
Mechanical Kit It includes four anchor bolts with nuts and washers per buffer.
Check Hoistway
Floor Surface 302 Make sure that the surface where the buffer will be bolted to the floor is flat and
even.
303 If the hoistway floor is not even and level, use shims for the buffer leveling.

NOTICE
Dirty Boreholes Impair Oil Buffer Stability
Dirty boreholes for the anchor bolts prevent secure fixation of the oil buffer to the pit floor.
Before fastening the oil buffer to the pit floor, clean the boreholes for the anchor bolts
thoroughly.
Buffer Fixation
403 Align the buffer in the hoistway using a plumb line. Make sure the buffers are
correctly aligned with a vertical deviation of < 5 mm. Use shims to compensate
for unevenness of the pit floor.
404 Use a hammer to insert the anchor bolts (1) into the fixation holes (2).
405 Tighten the anchor bolts (1).

Concrete 406 Position the buffer stand (1) according to the layout drawing.
407 Drill the holes for the anchor bolts (2).
Make sure that the hole dimensions are according to the table below.
408 Remove all dust and dirt from the fixation holes, using compressed air or a
vacuum cleaner.
409 Fasten the buffer stand (1) to the pit using anchor bolts (2).
For details, see paragraph "Buffer Fixation" in section "Buffer Installation on
