After watching, reflect answer the following questions:

1. How do media define the way you look at yourself? How does it affect your self-
confidence?
- Media plays a big impact on how I look myself. I always feel insecure whenever I
see pictures of people having the perfect feature like body, face, etc. on the
internet. I always want those perfect features and there are times that I buy beauty
products like glutathione soap because in media white people is beautiful and I
also buy whey protein because I feel that having a big and flexy muscle will make
me look more handsome. Media define that we should look perfect and there are
only one standard like white and good body composition. It affect my self
confidence because I don’t have those standards that media had and there are lots
of people who will say harsh words on you whenever you post your raw photo.
There are times that I don’t post my pictures because I have acne and I think that
other may say that my face is trash because I have acne. But overtime I realize
that I spent so much time trying to be someone because it is just what media says.
I start to be who I am and accept my flaws because at the end of the day it is you
who will believe in yourself that you’re beautiful.

2. Do you consider yourself ‘beautiful’? Why or why not?

- Yes I consider myself as a beautiful creature. We are all beautiful and for me
being true to yourself and accepting all your flaws makes you beautiful. We
should do have our own standard of beauty and we should not define beauty by
the definition of other whether it is media or our community. We are all beautiful
and I am beautiful.

3. What would you want to say to someone you know who feels ‘ugly’ because their
culture/society says so?
- I would say do not enclose yourself with such thoughts. Don’t let your
culture/society determine your beauty. Though I know that you respect your
culture and society but we should not focus on getting mold on what society
wants you to fit. You should know you’re beautiful Just the way you are. There is
light that shines within us and according to Socrates we are all sun within us and
we should let it shine. Don’t let anyone prevent you to shine.
