Requirements:
Written assignment (2000 words). This assessment asks you to complete a critical analysis of a field of occupational therapy practice of
your choosing (for example, mental health, paediatrics, vocational rehabilitation, acute hospitals or rehabilitation etc., you will need
choose a more specific area within some of these fields to adequately address the assessment criteria). The field of practice should be
of interest to you and one in which you would consider applying for work in.

You are expected to utilise a range of resources (journal articles, books, media releases, government publications, newsletters,
electronic media and other resources) to form your critical analysis.

Your analysis should include:

• An outline of the role of occupational therapists within this field including the scope of practice and any relevant boundaries
to the OT role.

• Outline the latest advances or recommendations or recent/future changes for occupational therapy within this field.

• Identify and analyse environmental, political or social factors which impact on this field of practice, such as political support or
opposition, funding opportunities or limitations, availability of resources and possible future opportunities within the field.

• Present and discuss cultural considerations within this field of practice. For example, considering multicultural and
multilingual caseloads, our refugee population and Indigenous Australian’s.

• Present opportunities that you see for a new graduate therapist to make a positive contribution within this field.
