Learning objectives:

the past simple form of the verbs.
2)By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to write at least 5 sentences in both
affirmative and negative sentences about a person in their family.

Step 1 Preparation

3. The pupils will read the questions and get them to give their
opinion. ( Teacher shall asks more questions to encourage pupils
to say more, e.g. In what situation is it useful to be very tall? In
what situations is it a problem?)

Step 2 Reading
1. Pupils are asked to focus on the photos and the table. Pupils
will read the text, ignoring the gaps, and try to work out the
meaning of the verbs and phrases in blue.
2. The pupils will write the simple past forms for all the verbs and
phrases in blue. ( Teacher will play the audio for pupils to listen
and check)
3. Gapped Reading
Pupils will read the gapped sentences again. This time, pupils shall
read out each gapped sentence in turn and elicit what kind of
information is missing, e.g. a name, number, date, etc.
4. Pupils will listen to the audio again. ( Then, teacher will check
the answers with the whole class)

Step 3 Writing
1. The pupils will write sentences about a person in their family.
2. Pupils are encourage to write the sentences in both affirmative
and negative sentences.
3. (Once done, teacher will pick pupils randomly to read some of
their sentences to the class.)
4. (Teacher shall correct any errors.)

The world’s tallest living man is Sultan Kosen. He was born in


1982 and he grew up in Mardin in south-east Turkey. When he was a
boy he ____________ near his home. But he ______________ early
because it was difficult for him because of his height. He ___________

___________________ and he worked from time to time as a farmer.

He first became famous in 2009. This was when he first got


the title of ‘The World’s Tallest Living Man’. In March 2014 he visited
Australia, and in November 2014, he ________________to London and
he met the world’s shortest living man at the time-Chandra Bahadur
Dangi from Nepal.

Sadly, Chandra died in September 2015.
